Most states were recording births by 1912. If he was born in Mississippi in 1928, he would have a birth certificate on file in Jackson, MS. It is possible his mother would have a death certificate there too. I live about 20 miles from Natchez, MS but all my Burrows were from the Nacogdoches, Texas area.

All he knows is his dad married his mom, he was told, named Florence Louella Burns and she died right aft he was born in 1929. He thinks she was buried in Dothan, Houston, Alabama, USA even though he doesn't understand him being born in Mississippi and her burial in Alabama. They moved to Miami, Florida a little later on.
Re: Anthony Burrows/John Burris Connection

Good to hear from you cousin....contact me directly for more discussion. The cemetery that is known as the Burris Cemetery was also known as the Littlefield-Burrows Cemetery and is on what was likely James Burrows' property (son of Anthony Burrows). His daughter Louisa Jane Burrows married William Henry Burris (oldest son of John and Sarah. They are buried there. While Charles Sevier and wife are also there, his parents are buried in Sandies Chapel Cemetery in Dewville, down the road south and west. Charles Sevier is also my great-grandfather as my grandfather was his son Dan Dotson Burris of Luling. The Gonzales County History book says it was Susan Lenora Clark who donated the land for the Sandies Chapel. Do you know much about her father James J. Clark etc. as there is a lot of history there? Before my brother died a few years ago we were also talking about cleaning up the cemetery. The last time I was there a tree had fallen over Charles' and Nora's gravesites There appear to be many unmarked graves there. Other relatives lived up the road at Belmont and down at Leesville as well as over in adjacent Wilson County. Do you know Wayne King (Frerking)?
Re: Anthony Burrows/John Burris Connection

I am researching the same family. Jimmie Payton (Burris) Frerking, 1st child of Charles Sevier Burris and Susan Lenora (Clark) Burris was my maternal great grandmother. Your query sheds some light on a question I've had for a while. Why are Burris and Burrows buried in the same family cemetery in Gonzales County. The Burris cemetery (also called the Burris/Littlefield cemetery)is on private property off Gonzales county road 108 in far northwestern Gonzales county. Charles Sevier Burris and wife Susan Lenora (Clark) Burris are buried there (my g-g-grandparents)along with several Burrows (including an A. Burrows). I have been there several times, contacted the land owner and am trying to make the time to go clean it up and restore what I can of the headstones. It is very grown up. This is a round about way of saying if I learn some connection in the process I will pass it along. Steve B. McMahon

Not to muddy the waters more than necessary, but I come from a line of Burrows whose forebers were originally French-Canadian 'Bourassa' from Quebec. If someone is up against a brick wall, they might at least look into it, at least as a 'rule-out' if nothing else.

I know that there is a Hutson Burrows that I believe is a son to Edward (1750) who was in Walker County GA and of course that's just right across the border from the Franklin County TN area where Anthony Burrows and family were along with my John Burris from the same group.
Anthony Burrows/John Burris Connection

It's been a while since I've posted anything on this investigation, but I'm still looking! I don't think any of us have gotten any closer to finding the connection between these two, John's family, Anthony's family beyond, etc. If anyone out there has any new information I'd love to talk to you.

John Burris (1785) and Sarah McDaniel (1790)
Pendleton County SC to Frankling County TN (1802?) to Tishomingo County MS (1846) and on to Gonzales County TX (1856)

Anthony Burrows (1770/1775) and Elizabeth ?
Pendleton County 1790 and 1800 on to Frankln County TN
Died there in 1822 or so and family spread out, some to Nacogdoches TX

I know Anthony must go back to Jamestown Burrows (Burrows Cove).
I know John and Anthony are closely related but don't know the relationship.

Anthony's son James Burrows went to Gonzales County TX too and his daughter Louisa Jane Burrows married William Henry Burris, John Burris' oldest son.

I suspect Anthony is John's uncle or cousin. Some say they're brothers but I don't see any proof of that. They always lived and migrated together so they were surely close family. Pendleton District SC had an Anthony and an Edward on the 1790 and 1800 census records and I suspect Edward was father to one of these men. There was also an older John Burrows in Pendleton on those census records but it appeared he stayed after the group left.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know this may seem plainly obvious but always check for spellings. I have found in various documents and census returns some name changes from Burrows to Borrows, Burrus Boroughs, Bourows, Borus, Barras, etc etc .Another example is a different branch of my family, the Maclaurins. One census gave them as Machmar and another as Melanson!!!Nothing like Maclaurin, daft 'a'peth!!!! keep checking and think of the daftest spelling you can come up with... who knows... you may hit on a mine of information.

I see it has been 8 or 9 years since you inquired about Alfred Webster and Miltilda Burrows. These are my Great Great Grandparents. Both are buried in Decaterville Missouri just south of Camdenton Missouri. I have photos of the tombstones and if I can get someone to show me how to forward them to you I'll do so. My name is Larry Paul Webster and my father is John Paul who went by "Paul" all his life. William Harrison Webster (my great grandfather) who was married to Elizabeth Garrison is buried in the "Parrish" family cemetery near Decaterville Cemetary. It's located on a private farm in the middle of a pasture. It is however well maintained. The Decaterville cemetery has several McGuire tombstones. I'm sure we are "kin" somewhere down the line. Let me know if I can help you. I'm currently looking for the family line of my Grandmother Ida Mae Hudson who married Milt Webster in 1904 at Ha Ha Tonka Missouri. If you can help me out there it would be great.
Larry Paul Webster
