This is on a bit of a tangent, but there are potential clues in the photograph, in the form of furniture and clothing, and the photograph itself.
This photo dates to the late 1800's Photography itself wasn't invented until mid century, and photographic prints on paper did not widely exist until after the Civil War.
A knowledgeable antique dealer can tell you what vintage the furniture is, and the clothing can render clues as well. Mens' fashions such as ties, collars, lapels, number of buttons can all yield information as to when the photo may have been taken.
My guess in that this photo was taken around 1880 or so.
