I wish you every success in your quest to find answers. May I share with you a similar problem. I have never been able to resolve this.
A headstone in a presbyterian church grave yard in the north of Ireland reads accordingly.
"Erected by George Busby in memory of his mother Susanna Busby who departed this life 19 Jan 1863, aged 72. Despite years of research I have never been able to find anything on George. He has disappeared of the face of the earth."
This is what we call a brick wall in genealogy. Thankfully this is my only one.
