Jacob Kendall (Kendel) was born on 12 May 1861 in Landestreu which was at the time in Galicia, a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire but is now in Western Ukraine. His wife, Maria Busch, was also born in Landestreu on 20 Sept 1867. They married there on 12 Feb 1888. They had two children and then emigrated to Morden, Manitoba where they died in 1916 and 1929. I have finally managed to track down information on all 10 of their children and can supply you with more information if you want. Here are the names and years of birth for their children:

Jacob b.1888
Rudolf (Rudy) b.1890
Minnie b.1894
Margaret (Maggie) b.1895
Eva b.1898
Edith b.1901
Edward b.1904
Amalia (Molly) b.1906
Adolph (Ted) b.1908
Elizabeth (Lizzie/Toots) b.1910

Let me know if this is a match or not.
Yes, Maria was my father's sister and her daughter would be my first cousin. Unbelievable isn't it.
Linda is my niece, my brother's daughter and one of the nicest people you can ever meet. I love her dearly.
It is so amazing for me to have contact with people who knew of their ancestors.
Linda has been keeping my informed about you and if you wish to contact me direct she will give you my email address.

Hi Eileen,
I have heard a bit about you. I've been in contact with your niece (great-niece?) Linda. I guess you would be my great-grandmother's cousin. Her name was Eva Kendall and she grew up in Morden but left Manitoba when she got married in 1920. She was later Eva Morrison though I don't expect you've heard anything about her. Her mother was Maria Busch and she died in 1929. One of the first of the Busch siblings to go. I think she was second after Margaret.

I have the microfilms of the original church records from Landestreu so I should be able to find birthdates for the younger siblings like Henry, Dora, and Jacob (who I've only seen in the immigration record and maybe some siblings we don't know anything about). I've been collecting obituaries for the siblings who died in Winnipeg which include 6 of your aunts and uncles. I'm planning on emailing them to Linda today. I found your email address from other posts that you've made so I'll pass them along to you as well. I think I have found a grandson of your uncle Henry's and a few other Huget's and a Wardrop from them. Just need to get around to calling them though I don't expect them to know very much, at least not much past their grandparents. I'm hoping someone has photos of your grandmother at least. She died in 1916 so I imagine there are some photos of her floating around or buried in someone's closet. Anyways, glad to have made contact with you,

Tyler

Ah, that is quite distant. My great-great grandmother was Eleanor's older sister Maria Busch who married Jacob Kendel. My great-grandmother was Eva Kendall who was born in Morden in 1898. I've been working with a few people to track down Busch and Kendall siblings. I have the microfilms from Landestreu at the moment and am working on scanning all the documents. Over 40 death records to scan and each page takes so long. Lots of births and marriages too. Have you seen them?

Hi
I have Wilhelm's wife as Eleanora DRESSLER. Is that what you have? She would be a sister to Christian and Johann Daniel Jr. DRESSLER.

I have her Eleanora, Christain, and Johann Daniel's mother as Maria Dorothea Gerhard. She went on to marry Wilhelm's father Andreas BUSCH.

That would make your wife and me 3rd cousins. I grew up in the North End of Wpg. I lived around the corner from where Wilhelm and Eleanora used to live (long before my time!)

Frank J. Busch

We are seeking the birthplace of Frank (Franz, Francois?) Joseph BUSCH born 10 February in 1819 or 1821 in the Alsace region of France.

Frank arrived in the U.S. before 1853. He may have served in the French army for 7 years prior to coming to the U.S. After arriving in the U.S., he worked in the mills of Lowell, MA; married Rose Farrel (b. Ireland, c. 1831) in 1853; served as a Sgt. in the Union Army; and then lived in Milton, NH. Frank and Rose had 8 children. Frank died in Rochester, NH in 1898.

Suggestions on searching French army records from the 1830' & 1840's would be helpful.

Hi,
There is alot of Busch family in Canada. Try this link and see if you find any of your ancestors. My Busch family lived in Manitoba but they are distant relatives to the ones in Sash. The family started with Jacob Busch. You may be in the line of his oldest son Johann Busch, lots of their descendents in Sash. Canada.
Good luck to you, Mary

http://automatedgenealogy.com/index.html

Searching for Amelia Busch

I need help finding the correct Amelia Busch. I'm looking for how my great great grandmother, Amelia Busch is connected to Adolphus Busch. I know for a fact that she was maried to Frederick Loohauis. I believe her father's name is Paul Andrew Busch. I can not find any records on either of these men. When I look thru Adolphus' family tree I do find an Amelia Busch but her husband is Albert Mars and her father is Henry Busch. So I know this is not the same Amelia. Can anybody give me any insight???? thanks

The surname Unger is a Mennonite name. In 1874 many Mennonites immigrated from South Russia to Canada and the US settling in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Manitoba, Canada. If your grandmother was an Unger you may discover a great heritage in your roots. There are Ungers related to my father's side, the Reimer family. His mother was a Busch.

Sincerely
Mary "Reimer" Anderton
I have attached a drawing of Schloss Overhagen, it's very close to the photo I have. I refer to it as a photo but it well may be a lithograph.
I can't discern a date but on the back is a stamp with Lippstadt, Schloss. The written message is "Au, Adam Busch.... in typical Germanic script.

Although I have commented that this is all new information for my Busch family, I do know that they migrated to what was then Galicia and then Bessarabia. From there some immigrated to Canada, some to the US and some were caught up in the Nazi Resettlement.

An update---I found two sons of Peter Busch and Emma Schmitz in the 1910 census, Ward 18, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. They were Stephen and Nicholas. I was thrilled to see that their mother's name at that time was Anna Ungers! This led to me finding the death certificate for Emma Unger, who died in Cleveland in 1917. Her birthdate on the death certificate matched exactly what I had, 18 Aug 1847. She's buried in Calvary Cemetery. I was not able to find an obit for her in the Necrology file and I don't know who her second husband was. The informant on her death certificate was Jacob Unger but she was widowed. He wasn't able to provide any family information.

Hi, Thomas,

I can't recall what I shared upthread about the branch of Busch family I descend from. I can tell you that through the years I was eventually able to learn that a maternal line, Catherine Ilsabein Hebrocks, came from the Principality of Lippa, while her husband, Peter Henrich Busch (probably born around 1770-75) was from nearby Herford, Prussia.

I'm curious to know more about your photo of the castle/schloss in Lippe . . . were you able to discern a date?

I learned in my research that over 10,000 from the Herford area emigrated to the U.S. in the mid-1850s. Spinning & weaving had been a mainstay way for folks there to make a living, but England's industrialization allowed much cheaper textiles to dominate the world export . . .

Is there a written message on your photo, and if so have you been able to deciper it?

I wonder if I could butt in. Busch is my family name, I've been under the impression that my ancestors came from the Rheinland-Pfalz area and have spent untold hours going in that direction

However, recently, I received found a photo of a castle. On the back was a photo stamp with Schloss Overhagen and the words "Au Adam Busch" No big deal except my family have for years talked about a castle that my grandfatherAdam Busch had inherited. Again no big deal, it's not like I can claim it after 60 years but..it leads me to consider my family may have come from the Nordrhein-Wesfalen area.

Would you or any of the post responders be willing to have me bounce some names off you to see if I can verify or not my suspicions?

Thanks
Thomas Adam Busch

Hello, I was just looking for anyone related to or knowing anything of Ava and Alvin Busch of Orange, New Jersey. I am unsure of birth dates but I am guessing early 1900's. They had a daughter named Ethel Busch, and she had a son at a very young age named Alvin Busch. Alvin moved to New York and was my grandfather. Any facts or help would be much appreciated!

With a common surname like Busch, it will be very difficult to jump the pond and find info on your family in Germany without knowing where in Germany they originated. To find their place of origin requires digging in U.S. records. Origins may sometimes be found in obituaries, naturalization records, church records, and many other places. Often you may have to expand the search by studying your family's neighbors, acquaintances, and relatives, and determining where they originated; immigrants often followed others from their home town or area to their place of settlement in the U.S. These articles may be of help:
https://wiki.familysearch.org/en/Determining_a_Place_of_Orig...
http://www.ancestry.com/wiki/index.php?title=Overview_of_Imm...

I am working off of notes that I found in my aunt's garage. They were quite old notes and they were a copy of someone else's work that was given to my grandmother. When my grandmother died, my aunt kept it in her garage, even though she has no interest in genealogy. I have some documentation with the notes, but they're all jumbled and I am working to preserve and sort through them and match up notes with the correcft documents.

With that said, I do not know if any of this information is correct. I'm working on the assumption that it is correct until I prove otherwise.

Notes on John Busch include snippets of information that somewhere is a recording of Johhn Busch, who has a very heavy German accent, and what he says, for his birth place, "sounds like Aulistock or Hadenolf" and also that his name was spelled Bouche in Germany but with his naturalization, was changed to Busch. I have a copy of the final naturalization papers in Reno County, Kansas, Sept. 1906, where he denounces his allegiance to the emporor of Germany. But it does not have his birth place on it anywhere, other than just Germany.

Also, the notes indicate the Mr. Busch/Bosch/Bosche born 23 June 1835 was born in Ahlerstedt. According to the notes mentioned above, he would have died circa 1866. I missed that the first few times I went through the notes myself.
? Busch / Bosche - Born 23 Jun 1835 Germany

My Greatgrandmother's name was Mary Elizabeth Busch (1894 - 1956). Her parents were John Busch (1864 - 1954) and Elizabeth Glass (1868 - 1951). John's parents are unknown. I only know that his father (? Busch/Bosche) was born 23 Jun 1835 in Germany. John's grandparents on his father's side are ? Busch/Bosche born 1795 in Germany and Margaretha Ahfeld, born in Germany.

I have been unable to find any information on the Mr. Busch born 23 Jun 1835 in Germany. I am in the process of requesting John's death certificate in hopes it will give his parent's names. However, in the meantime, if anyone has any information on this generation of this family, I'd appreciate taking a look.

Thanks so much!

Re: Jacob Busch - Maria Elisabetha Kramer

Hi Janet,

Part of the problem is the lack of information. My ggrandfather, Leonhart Busch, was married on Jan. 3, 1882 in Kishinev, Bessarabia, Russia.

I am fortunate to have a copy of the church marriage record that indicates that his parents were Jacob Busch and Maria nee Kramer. It further states they were residing in Korneschty, Bessarabia, at the time of the marriage. Today, it's called Cornesti.

I have not been able to find records for Jacob or Maria to fill in any blanks. There are a few threads but nothing concrete.

Any help is appreciated
Thomas
