Hello cousin M.Donegan.

Catharine Sophie Busekros is my great-great grandmother. I have her as the daughter of Hans Heinrich Busekros and Anne Ilsabein Margarethe Kochs.

There is an error about Catharine Sophie Busekros' husband's last name. How this was perpetuated, I don't know, but his last name is DIEKMANN, not Dirkmann. It is no wonder we all dead-ended at Dirkmann.

I have the following information from a newly published book of my birth-name line (Ridderbusch), written in part by my 7th cousin who was brought up in Lippe. It is available only through him or me. If you're interested just reply and I'll give you more info on how to get it.

Here is what he has verbatim, in German, on Catharine Sophie Diekmann:

Catharina Sophie Diekmann, *23.11.1831 Kalldorf. Gestorben 17.03.1902 Marathon County, Wisconsin. EP Amt Langenholzhausen 27 02 1857: Ernst Konrad , ehlicher Sohn des Colon Johann Friedrich Ridderbussch No.30 zu Luerdissen sen (...) will sich verheiraten mith Katarina Sophie Diekmann, ehlichen Tochter des Colon Johann Heinrich Diekmann No.51zu Calldorf (...) Verlobte wollen sich als Einlieger in der Bauerschaft Caldorf niederlassen" (L 108 A Nr.716, S 411f.) Kind: Karl Friedrich Simon Ridderbusch, Shawano County, Wisconsin.

While thumbing through this 450-page book, I ran across another Busekros I hadn't heard of before. I'll find that soon for you and post it on the Busekros board, whatever it is. I hope it is helpful to you or our other Busekros descendants.

Sincerely, cousin Rebecca

I also have a Busekros background, and can share some info--and am looking for some info, too.

My Buskeros links are from those who came from Kalldorf and settled in Stephenson County, Illinois--but Kalldorf (Illinois) and Langenholzhausen (Wisconsin) are just a stone's throw away from each other in the province of Lippe-Detmoldt, and as it's not a common name (even in Germany), we're likely all related.

The "family legend" I grew up with--Busekros is actually a Greek name, meaning "big ox." Although the family is German, the original Busekros ancestor was Greek, and settled in Germany--or so the story goes. For what it's worth, my Greek-American acquaintances all confirm that Busekros is a Greek name, and that I'm one of them ! :)

The info I'm seeking--I'm looking for the antecedents of two Busekros brothers who settled in Stephenson county. The brothers are Frederick and Herman (in German, Friedrich and Hermann) Busekros, who were born in Kalldorf and emigrated as teens to Illinois. They both married sisters, Minnie and Mary Edler, respectively. They're clearly part of the Kalldorf Busekroses, but I can't find their parents' names.

Thanks!

Matthias Busekros

Trying to find out if anyone knows if Matthias Busekros is the same as Busekrus. It may have been a translation error at some point, but I want to make sure I'm on the right path.
August Busekrus b-12/29/1847 d-12/28/1908;
his father is Johann Heinrich "arnold" Busekrus (also Busekras, also supposedly used Brickmeier or Brickmeyer in the US) b-11/4/1807 d-?;
his father Johann Christoph b-1783 d-2/16/1843;
his father Jobst Henrich Siekmann Busekros b-1730 d-1/15/1809; Jobst was a Siekmann, but married Anne Marie Ilsabein Busekrus b-12/26/1738 d-?;
her father was Matthias Busekros.
That's where the Busekrus/Busekros/Busekras trail ends.
Anyone know anything else about this name? Appreciate it!

Some historical information that may matchup. She would have died before January 8, 1793 when he married Anne Margararethe Ilsabein Kochs in Langenholzhausen. Anne was born about 1769. (Some sources list this person as A. Margar. Wiefesiek). Anne would have died before March 23, 1802 when he married Anne Catherine Brinkmeier in Kalldorf.

Hans Henreich Busekroos and Katherine Margarethe had the following child:

i. Johann Moritz Busekroos was born in Kalldorf August 27, 1787 and was
christened September 2, 1787.

Hans Henreich Busekroos and Anne Margararethe Ilsabein Kochs had these children:

i.
Busekros from Langenholzhausen, Kreis Lippe, Nordrhein Westfallen

Hello, fellow Busekros descendants. I am the great-great-great granddaughter of Catharine Sophie Busekros. She married Johann Heinrich Diekmann on September 13, 1821 in the town of Langenholzhausen, Germany, near the larger city of Lemgo. They had at least one child, Katharine Sophie Diekmann, who later married Ernst Conrad Ridderbusch on March 15, 1857, also in Langenholzhausen. Later in life they (Ernst & wife) immigrated to Wisconsin. I would be most grateful for any information on siblings and parents of my Catharine Sophie Busekros and the Johann Heinrich Diekmann family. Also, because the surname Busekros is so rare in the United States, I am also interested in where your furthest-back Busekros ancestor came from. Thank you for any and all information you can provide. Sincerely, cousin Rebecca
