Re: Bute family settled in Clatonia, Gage, NE

Wow! I can't believe how long ago I posted that on the message board. Since then I have found a ton of information. I would love to help you out. What would you like to know? August sr. and his brother Ernest came to America in 1868, they spent about a year in New York and then went to Illinois where August married. They then settled in Clatonia, Gage, Nebraska. I do not know why they settled there though. All I know is that Clatonia was a German community. I know now that Glashutte was in Lippe, Germany. HIs father's name was fredrick Christoph Bute born in Glashutte also on 10 Dec 1807 and married Conradine Wilhelmine Friederine Henriette Luchte on 15 Oct 1837 in Germany. August and Ernests brother Fredrich also came to America in 1881 and settled first in Clatonia then Sanders, Montana.

I have a lot more info if you are interested. How are you related to this line? I am related to August jr who's son is my gpa Lloyd Bute. I am so excited to finally see someone on this line interested. We've got to be cousins some how. WOOT WOOT!!

I look forward to getting to know you and sharing this family with you. It has been an exciting 10 year journey.

camclark99@charter.net

Bute / Porter Family Photos

I purchased some family photos at a local antique store (Springfield, OR). I am not related, and am trying to get the photos to someone who is! If you are interested, please let me know.

Most of the photos are of Florence Farnham(Porter) Bute (1869-1939), and her daughters Neva, Lola, Aura and Villa Bute.
There is also a photo of
Mary (Porter) Butler (1859-1915). Mary is a sister of Florence. They are both daughter of Jeheil Luther Porter and Mary Adaline Hamilton.
Verna (Bute) and her husband Guy Blackmore,

Erva Farley and her husband Ira Kemp (Erva's mother was Ida Bute),

Lottie May (Shaw) Emerson and daughter Mavis Lorraine Emerson (Lottie's mother was Martha Bute).

All the photographs are nice cabinet photos circa 1880-1900. There is one tintype of Florence from 1877. There were also a few other photos still at the antique store that I did not purchase (from the same lot) and if you don't live local, I can pick them up for you as well.

I've attached scans of the three photos of Florence below. If you would like copies of the other photos, just let me know and I can email. They are also uploaded to my "misc" tree on Ancestry.
Re: James Bute

By chance I discovered the "Bute" reference which I have wondered about for years. Perhaps we have a new family connection.
My name is John Bute Hill, grandson of James Bute and Bertha MacMahon.
Born in 1928, son of Bertha Alevia Bute (Hill) (Sept.'96-Dec. '41) and Sherman Tomlinson Hill (Oct. '95-Sept. '73), brother of Alevia Jane Hill (Dalton) ( Jul. '25-Jul. '05).
Alevia Bute had sisters Sarah Elizabeth (died in 1930s) and Agnes ? Nickle (died in 1970s). Nickel children, Hugh, Bertha, Donald all living, with children.
Alevia Dalton had 4 daughters, married with children. I have 1 daughter, 3 sons (2 married with children).
I was unable to confirm Bute family history, having only visited Houston twice, lastly for Bertha Bute's funeral and burial in River Oaks, where my mother is also interred. I met younger John Bute, his sister Lois Porter and a cousin on that last visit. I had record of Mary Ellen Nemeth's theatrical activities in New York.No word from anyone since.
I would welcome further contact and history of the near famous James Bute Family.
Is it possible Diane Robinson is from the Don Nickel family, who may have already been in touch with a child of mine??
John BUTE/Elizabeth WHITE m. 1812 Scotland

John BUTE (a mariner) and Elizabeth WHITE (daughter of John White, Millwright) married in Edinburgh Parish, SCT in 1812. Their marriage was confirmed the next year in Carnock, Fife, SCT which was where John BUTE was born.
John died 1855 and his death certificate gives a complete list of his children along with the names of his parents (Agnes White and James Bute, joiner).

Old Parish records show that James Bute/Agnes White were the parents of Janet b. 1796 and Ann b. 1799, both in St. Cuthberts, Edinburgh. I have found a birth registration for John 1789 in Torryburn, Fife (listed as John Booth but with correct parents)

Will be happy to share what info I have on these families and would like to know more about his sisters and any other siblings.

LaVerne (USA)
mar523@aol.com

I know that he was on the Weser Ship out of Bremen in the Spring of 1886. My Grandfather's history says he is from Glashutte. We don't know which state probably Sachsen. I think his father is Fredrick and mother is Henrietta Lucte. I would appreciate it if any one has any information that can help me to locate this family.

I have a g.g. grandmother LUCY BUTE born around 1810 who married JOHN GOODE. Some of their children were born around Wisbech Cambridge (my g. grandfather William in 1843) and sometime after that they came to Australia. I have Lucy's father as U.BUTE but that could be the Ozi sense of humour! Cambridge can't find marriage details to ascertain birthplace so perhaps it was Scotland. Anyway I add this for consideration in your researching. Please let me know if you find any connection. Thanks.

My family can lay claim to one of the decendants of the House, her name was Ferrie Elizabeth Diamond who married William Patton Thomason in the early 1800's.

I've been researching the Bute Family History and have included it on a Web site at http://go.to/TheButes.

I will be expanding this site in the future. If you have anything to add, please let me know.

Bute surname

William and Henry sound quite familiar. A lot of the Bute's I am directly related to are from So. Illinois. I'll have to look up William and Henry but I believe I can trace them. I can provide a ton of info on the Bute name once it came to America in the 1700s. Before that, my info is a little sketchy. Anything you can provide would be great. Perhaps we can find the connection. Thanks...

BUTE surname

I have a limited amount of info concerning the BUTE surname. I am assuming anyone with this surname originated on the Isle of Bute but I am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only info I have is a Joseph Bute, born in Scotland (no date) came to America in January of 1755 as a soldier with Major General Edward Braddock's British Army. Again I have no birth date for this man. He is my great great great great great grandfather. He married in Virginia (no wife's name is given) and had only one son, also named Joseph Bute who married Miss Barbara Dick of Virginia.

Thanks

Philip E Butelip E Bute
