I think we maybe able to help each other. I had Thomas J. Butts b: 1824 AL and d: 1/31/1865 in Lynchburg, Campbell, VA at the Old City Cemetery, which is now named, Woodlaw National Cemetery #1456. He died of pneumonia while serving in the Civil War. It shows that he was a Sgt. A 1 Alabama Artillary. He married Priscilla Susanna Rebecca Ardona Ferguson in 1849-Jan. 7 Butler, Ala. and then his father was only listed as Thomas Butts b: 1775.
I have the Census for Thomas and Rebecca in AL. also where they had purchased land, but have no information in regards to GA or NC.
I have a photocopy of the Family Bible of Julius C. Butts and Callie Connor Butts dated Dec. 25, 1909. I have a list of weddings, births and deaths. But a great deal of my information came from my Great-aunt Eva L. Butts/Stallworth before she died and from my cousin Coy Butts, father was Gerald Orville Butts, my mother Irene Thompson Butts and uncle Rev. Tommy Lane Butts, and also a family cousin from the Watson side Kenneth Watson. Tommy Lane's family and my great aunt help raise my dad, William Earl Butts.
I have never heard of the Yellow Jacket Cemetery. Where is it located? Is it in Lowndes County?
I do not have any orginal documents on Thomas Butts only what I have been able to locate on the computer through different sources. I was hoping that some of Thomas and Rebecca's children's family would be looking for information also and we could help each other.
Do you have any information in regards to who their parents were in GA and NC and where in GA were they living before coming to AL.? I will locate the copy of the Bible from JC Butts and Callie and send you a copy if you would like. I'm searching quite a few sides of the family, mine and my husbands, which his family came from Italy so I'm having to learn Italian so I can read the documents. His dad has given me a lot of info. he is still living and will be 101 this December.
Please keep in touch and maybe we will discover more of the family past, the good and the bad. Nora
