Hi,

I came across your post today. My relatives immigrated from the Sigmaringen-area in 1883 and spelled their last name "Ströbele". Most of the Ströbele family back to 1730, originated from Habsthal (now Ostrach), near Sigmaringen. Do you have any relatives from that area?

Thanks,

Dave

1940 Obit - Sarah Madina (Hartman) Butz

Back in 2005, someone named Ann at the e-mail address, AERmailbox@aol.com, asked that I keep an eye open for this obituary. However, now that I've located it, she's no longer at that e-mail. So I'm posting the obituary out here in hopes that she stumbles across it somehow.

Jerri Burket
Obituary Look-up Volunteer, The Morning Call newspaper, Allentown, PA

After an illness of four weeks, Mrs. Sarah (Sallie) Madina Butz, died early yesterday morning at her home, the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin F. Butz, 726 N. 31st St., Allentown R. 3. Born in South Whitehall township, Feb. 3, 1864, she was a daughter of the late Willoughby and Flora Ann, nee Brobst, Hartman. On March 3, 1883, she was married to Franklin S. Butz, by the Rev. Bohner. Besides her husband, there survive one son, Erwin; four grandchildren: Flora, wife of Roger Butz; Dorothy, widow of O. Glyndor Williams and Ruth, all of Allentown, and Franklin of Fogelsville. Also surviving are two brothers, Henry of Emmaus and Hiram of Allentown, and one great-grandchild, Ann Elizabeth Butz. Funeral services will be held in Trinity E. C. church, 10th and Chestnut Sts., on Friday at 1.30 p.m. and interment will be made in Cedarville Evangelical cemetery. Friends may call at the Rabenold funeral home, 116 S. 8th St., Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.
[The Morning Call, Allentown, PA, Tuesday, February 27, 1940, page 7]

Mary's parents were John Itterly and Anna Margaret Werkheiser. Any information would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Herman Butz (1843 - ?) Family - Wisconsin

Herman BUTZ was born in Wusterwitz, Pomerania, Germany in April 1843 and was still alive in 1920. His parents were Christian BUTZ and Caroline DOMANN BUTZ. He married Sophie HARTLAGE in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1902. Children were Helen M. BUTZ (1901-?), who was Sophie's child and apparently adopted, Sophia D. BUTZ (1903-?), and William BUTZ (1907-1990).

I research all HARTLAGE families in the United States. Although Sophie HARTLAGE BUTZ is not in my branch, I'd like to learn more about her and her family. Does anyone have this family in their data?

I am still trying to contact you or anyone for info on William Butz and his 1st wife. His 2nd. wife may have been Magdelen Kuhn of Bally, PA. My direct ancestor was a William Butz who had a son John Henry, who was born abt, 1771-2 and moved to Franklin Co. PA from Berks Co. PA, married twice and had 19 children, one of whom was my gr-grndfather, James Beaver Butts.
Eileen: I have not heard from anyone concerning the Hasenclever Germans. You asked me to reply if I didn't.
It's very possible my ancestor, William Butz/Butts, is the one listed at the forge in NJ, who then moved to Berks Co. PA, as his name is listed in the Goshenhoppen Catholic Church records there, being married to a Magdalen Kuhn, August 13, 1776. My ancestor, John Henry Butz/Butts, whose father is listed as William, was born in Berks County. There is a John Henry Butts listed in those same records, son of Christian and his wife Catherine, born Aug.1, 1777, so maybe my records were wrong...old Bible records.
Any suggestions?
I am trying to trace my Butts/Butz roots in Berks Co. PA. I have a William Butz who had a brother Christian and they had a forge in NJ. I may be a direct descendant ot William & Magdelena of Berks Co.A as I have records of the Goshenhoppen Catholic church there and the names of some children of theirs who were baptized. The only proved record I have is of John Henry Butts of Franklin Co. whose father,William was buried in Fredrick, MD, by wife
Dubois Clerge, or was buried by Dubois the clergy, as the record is very old and writing is bad. They were Catholic. John Henry also worked at a forge in Franklin Co. PA, so that is the common thread. William and brother Christian were in the Rev. War together. Any similarities here?
Jane Butts Kilgore

Michael,Jr and Eva arrived in Philly in 1753 on the ship Beulah. Probably from Switzerland.

According to my records.
I spent 2 days in Butzbach 2 weeks ago...what a wonderful old city to visit! I took many photos including the ones from the "Evangelical" (As opposed to Catholic" church that was there before even before the time of our recorded ancestors, and of the ROman Wall. MAde 2 visits to the museum in Butzbach, and discovered that any of us who came from there can count Celtic, Roman and German amoung our heritage! THere was a statue of a Roman soldier that looked so much like my Dad I Felt like Giving him a daughterly kiss!

They ahve an amazing collection of miniature shoes representing the whole span of known life in the area, from Celtic shoes on to modern day.

IF anyone would like jpg photos of Butzbach I Can e-mail them to you.

I was not able to do any research but just wanted to walk where the ancestors had walked and see what they had seen, which is quite possible with the wonderful midevil houses still there in the heart of the town.

I am working on publishing the Butz/Butts Book. I have been for fifty years. I am now 75 and have been in very poor health, however, I have putabout three feet tall stack of info into the computer for publishing, I have about one foot to go. I am much better now with a pacemaker and I seem to have the diabetes undercontrol, so am back to work. I cannot give a time yet, but am looking forward to publishing soon. I would hate to see the work gone, it has been a long journey. My husband is a retired Colonel, USAF and we traveled so much, the genealogy had to come between raising children, traveling, etc. but my mother's family is published, and now Dad's turn. Thanks for writing.

Wilhelmine Butz & Friedrich Mallow

We are trying to locate some information on some ancestors whom we have not been able to get any more information on. Wilhelmine Butz born Oct.17, 1816 married Friedrich Mallow b. Apr 01, 1813. Don't have any information on when they were married or either of their parents. I have some information that says they came from Bohemia, Germany. Would appreciate any more information on either individual.
