I applied to the DAR and failed to be accepted because I can not prove where he lived while he served. I know that he did live in New Jersey, but the DAR has records for four different John Buys serving from several different states. They requested some kind of proof, which has eluded me thus far. I have contacted Elsie but she was unable to help me. If you can offer any help I would appreciate it. I know that he left his children with his spinster sisters and went to serve, but do not know in what state that was. Thanks for your help!
