Hello all,
I wonder if anyone has traced their family to back to its English origins? My mother is a Byass from a Yorkshire>Sussex>Australia line which has been traced back to a family of Yorkshire ropemakers in the mid 17th century. There a lot of sons (and a multitude of daughters) who simply disappear off the map, and who may well have gone to America. It would be terrific to link some of them up.
Regards,
Robyn

Byas in Montague County, Texas

My grandfather was born Aubrey Glen Byas in Montague County Texas. His mother was Lillie Byas. Lillie Byas married a man and a child was conceived. The story was told that they were not legally married and when Lillie found out she was pregnant, her husband skipped. She went home to live with her parents, Henry Byas was her father, and she gave my grandfather her fathers last name.

The story of who the father was has passed away with those people who knew the truth. I did here once that the mans last name may have been Parker, but I do not know that for sure.

Many of the family members still live in Texas. If anyone has any information that may help me with this mystery, please email me.

looking for information on James Byas. I think
he was born in County Caven Ireland in 1722 and
arriving in the U.S. around 1734 with his parents and siblings.
While in PA he is reported to have married Elizabeth Larkin
before settling in Amherst County VA. I have much
information after that but not before. Please
contact if you can help.
