Many thanks for taking the trouble to give me the leads on Thomas Bye's 'brush with the law'. As you probably saw from my correspondence, I was fairly sure that, if he went to Australia,it must have been for a very short period.
I think the 'law' must have taken pity on his situation which must have caused some humour at the time.
