Hi I too am tangled in the Bye, Chisholm Warren line. Want to swap info? Christina Chisholm Bye married my Great Great Grandfathers son (of a first marriage, I am from his second). William Henry Warren Jr. Should also go to www.genealogywise.com its like facebook for genealogists, and they are WAY helpful. Cheers, Jo Kotylak,

I've just begun researching my family history after losing my paternal grandmother (July 2009). I don't know anything about my ancestors and would like to pass on information to my children someday. My paternal grandfather was Glenn Bye (1917- June 2005) and his father was Emmitt Bye; however, I don't know much beyond this. Please forward any information. Thanks.

I'm not very good at receiving pictures. We could send them snail mail. 1990 Liverpool Pt. Rd., Nanjemoy, Md. 20662 It did not come through, that I could tell ? Just send a piece of paper and when I get it I would send you back one addressed to your return address and then we could risk a picture vice versa.

Glad to hear from you. The Bye family [Svend and Petra] in Menomonie had 2 surviving children and I knew someone named Thea had lived with them but nothing else. My grandmother [Alice Bye] was daughter to Mrs. Petra Bye [who was Petra nee Johnson and had a mom [Mrs. Johnson] and 2 brothers [I think James and Andrew Johnson who came before Petra and Petra's mom] . Could your names of Agnette Johnson or Thea Johnson have been related to Petra or James or Andrew or their mom [first name unknown]? Svend & Petra met aboard ship when they immigrated through Canada & first settled in Minn. [Petra accompanied her mother.]
I am the great granddaughter of Svend and Petra Bye, granddaughter of Adolph Bye, Thea was raised by this family. I would like more information if you have anything... Adolph and family moved to Potlatch Idaho in about 1908. We knew Thea was a Johnson most likely a relative but did not know names of her parents or anything else. I live in Kennewick Washington.. Taught at Kamiakin High School for many years. I found out many years after I had McKinnon girls in class that there might be a tie.

Actually, Thea's father Svend would be the one in question related to Petra. We visited Petra's grave site over the Memorial weekend. My mother remembers Petra and recalls her as a very sweet, kind woman. I have pictures of Thea with her and her obituary from a Menomonie newspaper. She sounds like she was quite the woman.

His parents were Haagen Haagensen (Nideng) Bye born abt 1798 in Klaebu and Ingebor Marta Christophersdatter Bye (believed to have been born 1793 in Trondheim). The 1865 Strinden census shows him with wife Andrea Johnsdatter and children Haagen, John, Karen, Martha, and Randi.
Haagen Haagensen born abt 1798 was my ggg-grandfather.
Bye Family in Michigan

Looking for information on the Bye (I've seen it spelled Bey also) family of Michigan.

My line starts with Michael Bye and Rosena Kuhn. They came to America from Germany in 1879. They came to Michigan and settled in the Tuscola County area. The children they had were: Mary, Rose, August, John or Jacob, Bertha and Sherman (James).

Mary married Stephen Bailey and lived in Saginaw Co. Her sister Rose lived with her for a short while, perhaps meeting the man she would marry.

Rose married Chester Ellsworth, they traveled. The Ellsworths lived in Arkansas in 1910 and in 1918 they were in Virginia. Rose later moved back to Tuscola Co. and married William Russell in 1935.

August married Minnie Schenk, I believe they remained in the area.

I have no information on John Bye.

Bertha Bye married Britt Wilson - this is my line.

Sherman I believe married later in life after his mother died, but I know not to whom.

I have limited information on this family. Information has been a bit hard to come by. I do have some information on descendants. Willing to share with anyone who thinks they are connected.

Sarah
