I am interested in the post you have on ancestry.com. You have the spelling Byes which is the way we spell our last name and you say your mother and uncle were born in Owensville, IN. My husband's father was born in Poseyville, IN which is close to Owensville. His name was Maynard Byes and his father's name was Joseph. Joseph had a brother whose name was Marion and I have his birth date at 1868. Most references I have found have the surname spelled bias, byas, biass, byous, etc. Have you found this with your research also? I would be interested to hear from you and to have access to your research if possible. I have only been doing this a short time. I have not been able to find any information on Joseph. I do have some on Jesse Bias Jr. and Jesse Bias Sr., but nothing back any further. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Sue Byes

You know, this has happened to me twice before. Someone contacts me and claims to be in my family tree. I promptly reply back and even give my direct e-mail address to contact so we don't have to converse over public boards, and I never hear from them again.
I don't get it....

Laina,
Is/was your last name Issac? How was Osborne(O.B.) your uncle. He is my grandfather. Which of his sisters are you kin to? I knew Aunt Ettie, Flossis, and Chloe the best. I have met Aunt Hallie. Of course Aunt Lizzie died before I was born. I have a great article from the Succes News dated 1931 that speaks of Marion and his family.

I have just started doing research on my grandmother's family Alvie (Byes) Boyd. I am almost certain her parents were Thadeus and Doxie Byes. My grandmother was born in Arkansas about 1894 or 1895 and her father died when she was about 5 years old. I too am trying to find out more information about Thadeus Byes.

I'm trying to find a Thadeus Byes, alive about that time. His 1st wife was named Victoria Hale, who he married on 28 Sep 1884 in Cross, Arkansas. He had one son named William, born in 1886. Victoria died around 1889. Thadeus then married Doxie Waldrip on 10 Oct 1889, maybe in Cross, Arkansas. Thadeus died around 1899, but I can find no records of him or his family.

For the lady who entered Wm. Henry Byes, the town in Arkansas is now spelled Wynne. My uncle was Joy Everett Byes whose father was Marion Byes. Uncle Joy was born 11/11/1887 and served in France in WWI. His father married my grandmother, Nancy Caroline Clark. I found a small amount of info on Marion at a site that told he was in a hospital for a gunshot in the hand in 1890 and had a broken leg in 1891. He married Sylvia Uperman in 1893. My mother was Joy's half sister. Mother and Uncle Joy were both born in Owensville, Indiana.
