I have been reading all the fascinating info about Byfields from around the world. I thought it was such a rare name. Usually if there is another Byfield in town, he/she is a relative.

Anyway, I am from a California strain of the family. Don't know that much about my family history and unfortunately the ones I could ask have passed on. However, my grandfather was named Edward Byfield. And I know that he came from the midwest before settling in California in the early part of the 1900s.

Anybody know anything to add to this?

Speaking of Jamaica...did you know that there is a Byfield Highway in Jamaica? When I was on a tour of that beautiful island, I stumbled upon it.
