I am still lost on this Byler line. If you can help me I would appreciate it.

I have the parents of the listed John Byler as being Jean or John Byler and Amanda Balthasar. I cannot find either one on a census. Maybe you know more. Family lore says Amanda was accidently shot by a young boy and died in 1878.

My email is jennvasq1@sbcglobal.net

Thanks

If you mean my MAXWELL notes, the earliest release date would be during the first week of OCT 2004, but I'm not certain yet if it can even be that soon. I still need to enter some updates, and once the release date is announced, I'm certain still more updates will be forthcoming from some of my contacts. Then, I must "sift" the files to prepare a surname index.

While my notes will provide the names and dates of descendants common to the BYLER and MAXWELL families, it will NOT include anyone in your direct path. BYLER descendants in my MAXWELL list come from the older brothers of your ancestor, Joseph, namely from Jacob Franklin BYLER and Abraham BYLER.

To give you an idea as to the "size" of my binding-less hardcopy, the last edition released (OCT 2000) consisted of 342 pp (171 shts, dbl sided), with roughly 1416 different surnames in an alphabetized index. Both of those numbers have increased, but I cannot estimate by how much at this time. Nor can I estimate the cost.

The contents of my work are primarily names, dates (birth, death, and marriage), with a two letter abbreviation for the State or Nation in which each of those events took place. Thus, it is more of a genealogy than a family history, lacking such things as photos, occupations, descriptions of physical characteristics, etc.

If you think you might be interested, I can put your name on a list of those to be notified as to the proposed schedule. The e-mail I am using here will likely be valid through the end of this year, so you can click on my name to find that address, then contact me at your liesure.

In the meantime, I recommend you review this BYLER forum by sorting the files by date (collapsed), then review my recent message exchange with another descendant of Joseph BYLER. The subject line of her query was simply "byler".

Alfred Tyra Byler

Alfred Tyra Byler was the 10th child of Jacob Franklin Byler and Bathsheba Caroline Oxford.
Jacob Franklin was the son of Jacob Byler (b abt 1740) who was in turn the son of Jakob Beiler
(the immigrant). There is an extensive history of Jakob Beiler available, most of it pretty reliable.

In addition I have some information on a couple of hundred other descendents of Alfred.

So if we can get more specific lets see if I can fill in any gaps for you.

Byler Name

The short answer is that almost all Bylers are descended from Jakob Beiler, the immigrant. I really recommend you purchase the Allen's book, but if you e-mail me directly I can furnish more information.
Suzanne,

I am a step great-great-neice of John Byler through his half brother Valentin Holloway, who was my great-great grandfather.

Have just learned of the death of Odile. Am trying to find out date. Odile and myself had written, and she had sent me a copy of her fathers family tree.

My heart felt sympathy to the family.

My mother was Veda Holloway, daughter of Eugene and Ezilda Holloway.

My e-mail is jrm@cox-internet.com.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Jeannie
