greetings from the island of puerto rico. i hope you and your family are well. i hope you still are a member of ancestry and if not i hope ancestry will send you this note.
my name is elsa. My grandmother clotilde caban morales and grand aunts were flora and francisca caban morales, born in moca, pr. their parents my great grand parents were juan caban and maria morales, all i believe from moca, pr. By 1930, my grandmother clotilde and my grandpa pedro cordero married and went to live from moca or añasco, pr to santurce, pr. They had all their children in santurce, pr. jesus, elizabeth, noemi, ruth (my mom), and moises all with surname cordero caban. About 1948, they migrated to new york. flora and francisca wrote letter from añasco, pr Barrio espino then barrio carrera to clotilde often. very sadly about in sept of 1953, 5 yrs later in brooklyn, clotilde had a massive heart attack and died. she was only 49 yrs old. my mom (ruth) was only 13 yrs old and her little brother (moises)was 7 yrs old. ruth, mi mami is now 70 yrs old, i have been hearing her mention all my life that she never ever knew anything about her aunts or cousins, never met them. how she would love to meet at least one of her first or second cousin from her moms side. i would like to be part of her getting to know someone from her mom's side of the family. can you please help me? do u have any idea on how i can go about finding them? honestly i saw a census that has juan caban, wife maria morales, children including the same names of my mom aunts flora and francisa but it states that they were all mulatto in color (the choices at the time in the pr census ask if color is blanco o mulatto.) it can not be them (though these names are very common) because all of my family from moms side were and are very fair skn color, light brown hair very clear eyes (blue/green/hazel in color) and very sharp/roman noses. unless the person interviewing them made a mistake but on all of them individually marked them as mulatto. again, please give me any help you can. thank you so very much. my dream is to find at least a first or second cousin for my mom before she passes. she has been such an awesome mother, wife, sister, i want to give her this gift. again thank you all for taking this time out. God bless you. elsa
