My father is from Mansonville, Qc.
He remembers 3 Cabana brothers who lived there when he was a young boy.

Octave Cabana
Noel Cabana
Michel Cabana.

Octave was Married and had children. but he did cheat on his wife and had a illegitimate son with Clara Massé.

The son was Henry Massé " because of father not listed...born in 1900. died in 1982.
He was My grandfather

Hi, I'm looking for futher ties to a Bernard Cabana, who was born in 1911. His wife's name was Mildred (I don't know her last name) and their son is Joseph. I don't know if they have more kids, nor do I know his parents last name.
It looks like there's a lot of info on the Cabana's and Charron dit Cabana, etc., but I know nothing of this history and would like to know the origins of this last name and more names if possible.
Any littlest piece of information would be AWESOME!

I am sorry I was doing research for a now exboyfriend of mine and he had all the information, but do try to contact the potton heritage society in mansonville, or the Brome county museum in knowlton they have extensive records.

I am writing this on behalf of my husband Bruce Cabana.His grandfathers name was Michel Cabana and his wife was Sophie Martel.Bruce's dads name was Jack Cabana and he was born in Mansonville P.Q. Canada on March 31 1923. If you have any information on Michel Cabana we would love to find out. He moved his family to Calgary Alberta, but then up and left them, and was reported to have gone back to Mansonville

Delia was only married once to a Napoleon Guillemette but they divorced and she met and lived wihJames Donald, from Scotland but never married him. I also would like more information on this family and especially my grandfather Michal. Do you have any information on Jean-Baptiste Charon dit Cabanac (John Cabana), born 1841-43 in Quebec?

John Cabana served in the Civil War for Vermont. He is in the 1881 Canadian census living at Mansonville, Quebec, with his wife and children. John Cabana married Elisabeth/Elisa/Eliza/Lizzie Royer (I do not have their marriage date or place - ?).

Do you know where John Cabana was born and who his parents were by chance?

Both John Cabana and his wife, Elisabeth, are buried at the Catholic Cemetery in Mansonville.

Wondering if anyone has information on a marriage of Lena CABANA to a FLUERY, possibly a Joseph, and probably about 1930??

1930 Census - Richford, Franklin Co., VT
(River St.)
Joseph FLUERY, boarder, age 26, married, age at 1st marriage - 26, b. VT, parents b. Canada, laborer - train elevator
Lena C. FLUERY, boarder, age 17, married, age at 1st marriage - 17, b. Canada, father b. Canada, mother b. VT, immigrated to the U.S. in 1927, naturalized, servant - private family.

I am trying to find out if the above Lena C. FLUERY I found in the 1930 Census is Lena CABANA.

The Lena CABANA I am interested in was the daughter of Paul J. Napoleon CABANA of Mansonville, P.Q. and Ellen PRIVE (later lived in VT).

Paul J. Napoleon CABANA, was the son of Jean-Baptiste CHARON dit CABANAC (aka John CABANA) and Elisabeth ROYER (aka Elisa or Lizzie).

This is in reply to Lynne's posting of 1999; however, if anyone else can give any more information on this family, I would appreciate it!

Elisa Royer (daughter of Jean-Baptiste Royer and Anatasie (aka Tassie) Bocage) married Jean-Baptiste Cabana (son of Jean-Baptiste Charron Cabanac and ????). I was told the name Charron was dropped and also the second "c" of Cabanac, and as a result, today, the surname is simply Cabana.

From Family Genealogy/Information: Elisa Royer (possible aka "Lizzie Royer"), was the daughter of Jean-Baptiste Royer and Anastasie Bocage. She was born in Sheldon, Vermont, July 12, 1846, and died in Barre, Vermont on July 29, 1912. She married Jean-Baptiste Cabana, who was born in Sheldon, Vermont on July 1, 1842. He died and was buried in Mansonville, Quebec, Canada, on January 17, 1915. He served in the Civil War--6th Vermont Infantry, Co. K. He was pensioned because of that accident.

Jean-Baptiste Cabana and Elisa Royer had 8 children:
- Marie Adel Cabana LaPanne
- Octave Cabana
- Paul Cabana
- Michel Cabana (might have married a _____? Cote)
- Delia Cabana McDonald
- Delphine Cabana
- Noel Cabana
- Archie Cabana

If anyone has any information or can add anything regarding these families, please let me know. I do not know the name of Jean-Baptiste Cabana's mother, only that his father's name was also Jean-Baptiste Cabana--please contact me if you can help.

Looking for further information on the family of Francois-Xavier Cabana s/o Auguste Cabana-Charron and Geneviève Lapointe, and, his wife, Céliée Rolland d/o Thomas Rolland and Célina Caron.

Francois and Céliée lived in Eastman, Brome Co., PQ (1901 census)and also Bolton, Brome Co., PQ (1911 census).

Yes. This would appear to be Lena Cabana. She is my grandmother.

Her father was Paul Cabana.

Paul's father was John Cabana who is burried in Mansonville. He was a Civil War veteran that fought in the 6th Vermont Infantry Co. K as described on head stone.

Onesine was my great great grandmother.
She married Edouard Gratton and had a daughter Felicite who married my great grandfather Cyriac Catellier. Felicite came from the Terrebonn, Quebec region before moving to Manitoba where she met my great grandfather.
