When I was around eight years old, my summers were spent in Amite with my aunt Dalia and uncle Orlando and their three sons (Orlandito, Omar, and Oscar.) My cousin Orquie spent a lot of time there as well, as she traveled a lot. Sometimes she went to see my mother Celedonia, in New Orleans as well. I was born in New Orleans. My grandfather's name is Armando Labrador, but I think that he had a nick-name with the family as well. His brother lives in California, (I think) and we haven't seen him since my Great-grandmother's funeral. As for me, everyone in Amite called me Ro-been (misprounciation of my name) or Ro-been-seeta. If you are not the cousin, I am thinking of then you have to be close family anyway. If you are my cousin Orquie, then this is too unreal, because I have been wondering about you for years. The last time I saw her was over 10 years ago, but she was always so kind to me and I would love to know that she is doing well. Please help if you can - my husband's abuelo was the child of Pedro Antonio Pulido and Rosario Cabanas - they were Islenos that moved to Cuba when Abuelo Felipe was a child. Is your Cabanas related to Rosario?

This is hysterical. Candida is my Abuela from my dad's side of the family. You may be my cousin because I am hoping that you are related to Machito Labrador. He lives in New Orleans, LA. maybe our parents are related. I am almost sure. This is amazing. E-mail me I probably have a lot of information regarding our family in Cuba. My Dad still has 2 cousins living in Cuba. It has been many years since I have seen my Tio Machito.
