Thanks for your reply. I am familiar with the information you sent me. However, I can't find any real evidence of who Marion's real father/mother is/were. Peter Cabaniss is believed to have died (1835 or so) before Marion was born (1840/1), so it is strange that a father or mother would leave their children (Marion had two siblings also (Alexander and Erasmus or Rasmus)to a widow, in this case Catharine Mayfield Cabaniss. Joe's site is an excellent site and much of his information was provided by Allen Cabaniss a professor at Ole Miss. However, he has since passed away I think. Otherwise, I continue to try and track down info on John Coleman Cabaniss which so far I haven't found any. Any other info on him would be greatly appreciated. Again thanks for responding.
