Looking for any and all further information on Sarah Isabell Cabe, born 30 April 1834 in Orange Co., NC or Shelby Co., TN. She is believed to be the daughter of John Cabe and Elizabeth Horner. She was known as "the lady with the black bag" for her work as a volunteer nurse for the Confederate Army during the Civil War. She married Gabriel Peavler. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in Dover, Pope Co., AR and deserted 25 August 1863. He had contracted tuberculosis and went west (Texas & Arizona) for his health and she went with him. Sarah died in Dec 1917 @ Herrell Ranch, San Simeon Valley, AZ. The name Connelly is associated with her (possible first marriage?). After Gabriels death in 1879, she married Jacob Lightfoot in 1880. They "took in" and raised John Clay as well as two natural daughters known. Can anyone verify or expand on this information?
