parents of Benj., Wm, James, Elizabeth, Sarah Frances & my Lucy Isabella Cabe

Lucy Isabella Cabe Honeycutt:
Her husband was Jake Honeycutt, her father was T (or J) Cabe and her mother was Sarah.
Does anyone have any info on this family?

Missouri just released its death certificates database online (type in: Missouri State Archives) and I was able to discover the maiden name of my great great grandmother. (Don't you just love the adventure?!)

From her Death Certificate #30642-a, I found her father named as Mr. Cabe and her mother was unknown. I was able to find Lucy CABE and other siblings in the 1850 Census records in the same county I had already found her with her first husband George M Colley and my great great grandfather Jacob Honeycutt many years later (Weakley, TN). Problem is her father is listed as T Cabe there and he's not found on later Census records.
In 1850 T Cabe 35 and Sarah 36 and Benjamin, Wm, James, Elizabeth, Sarah & my Lucy (ages 11, 7, 5, 3, 2, 4/12) are found as family/household 94/94. On 95/95 is H Cabe 25 and wife Manesa 24.

In 1860 census in Henry, TN, #1256/1280 is Widowed Sarah aged 43, William, James, Elizabeth, Frances (called Sarah in 1850)and Lucy (ages 27, 15, 13, 11, 10)listed. Henry W Cabe 34 and Manicia aged 33 and their 3 children are family/ household #1403/1429.

Was Henry W Cabe a brother of my T Cabe?
J.M. Colley (father of George)is listed on 1840 Weakley, TN census right next to John Cabe and James Cabe. Does anyone know who they are?

Sarah Isabell Cabe

Looking for any and all further information on Sarah Isabell Cabe, born 30 April 1834 in Orange Co., NC or Shelby Co., TN. She is believed to be the daughter of John Cabe and Elizabeth Horner. She was known as "the lady with the black bag" for her work as a volunteer nurse for the Confederate Army during the Civil War. She married Gabriel Peavler. He enlisted in the Confederate Army in Dover, Pope Co., AR and deserted 25 August 1863. He had contracted tuberculosis and went west (Texas & Arizona) for his health and she went with him. Sarah died in Dec 1917 @ Herrell Ranch, San Simeon Valley, AZ. The name Connelly is associated with her (possible first marriage?). After Gabriels death in 1879, she married Jacob Lightfoot in 1880. They "took in" and raised John Clay as well as two natural daughters known. Can anyone verify or expand on this information?

Sarah Cabe Peavler

She appears in the 1850 Census on Marrs Hill, Washington Co, Arkansas with her father John, age 51, b NC and here it states she is 15 and born in TN. The wife here is Sarah, 48, b GA. So if you are correct this is a second wife. Do you have anything on this wife?

In 1860 her father John, 67, b NC and his wife Sarah 58 b GA appear in Mill Creek, Franklin Co, AR. Sarah is not listed with them.

I received information that she had married a Johnson and then in 1861 she married Gabriel Peavler in Franklin Co, AR. On her marriage license it states she is 22, and he is 28 which at first made me suspicious that this was the same Sarah. But then I found her in 1870 in Lampasas Co, Texas with Gabriel and here she says she is 36 b AR and he is 36 b TN and he is a Blacksmith. John Clay is 9 years old b Texas. This is apparently their adopted son.

While in Texas they are supposed to have two daughters Margaret Virginia and Sarah Frances. She Gabe died in 1879 in Arizona, these daughters would be b 1870/1879. I have not found Sarah in 1860 and I have not found her in 1880 either.

Columbus Cabe

I'm helping a friend who has no internet connection. He is looking for the parents of his Grandfather, Columbus Cabe, who was born 15 Feb. 1873, (location unknown) possibly McKinney or Farmersville TX area. Cabe family tradition says they lived in TN and AR before TX. Columbus married Lulu Florence Bates (date, place unknown) and they lived in McKinney, Collin Co, TX in 1903, when their first child was born. They later lived in OK in 1905/06 before moving to California. Any help with this family will be greatly appreciated. I couldn't find Columbus Cabe in the 1880 all person index I have. Can't seem to find this family at all. Thanks!

The Cabe Surname <<<Basic Search Foundation>>>

This should be a guide to all members with the surname CABE, MCCABE, MACCABE.

(1) It is a fact that all peoples with the surname CABE are all related and founded upon a single primary CABE ancestor, most likely from the original Germanic tribes of Europe.

(2) The surname was passed throughout the world with the advent of increased trading throughout history. It was also passed as a result of colonization throughout the world.

(3) The Cabe surname can be found in the following countries:
United States, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Commonwealth of Nations (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, etc.), France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and the Philippines.

(4) It would be an advantage for a serious Cabe genealogist to pursuse documentation and evidence from all of these countries to piece together a comprehensive pedigree.

Good luck my fellow genealogists!

Hey Anita and Melody: I know for sure I am a cousin to melody because we share Great Grandmas. This may be good news. I too have been researching my Cherokee roots and I know that my grandmother (Viola Fay Madison daughter of Clara) was FULL BLOOD Cherokee. Her Indian name was "Fay White Elk" and I remember her telling me stories of the "trail of tears" when I was just a little sapling of four or five. As of Jan 8 2000 I will be age 59. I too am extremeely excited to find you guys as I am trying to apply to the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah. My dad grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Please feel free to contact me at McQDUDE1@aol.com
