Surnames: Cabler, Cappler, Kappler, Cobler, Kabler
Not quite. The original Cabler came over from Germany in around 1725 or so to the Germanna colony in Virginia which was then under Governor Spotswood. Several variations out there on his name, but it was basically Hans Friedrich Cappler (also shown as Kappler). Had kids, grandkids, etc., and the spelling variations ended up being Cabler, Cobler, and Kabler. As we went thruogh the 1700's and 1800's, the various family branches settled in Virginia, North/South Carolina, and Tennessee. My line came through Tennessee as did most in Alabama, Arkansas, MS, TN, and TX.

Anyway, we've been here since before the revolution.

Hope this helps.
