My ancestors were 1 of 16 families appointed by the queen of Spain (I want to say) to travel from the Canary Islands to the New World to colonize and set up a church. They ended up in San Antonio, and built what is known today as the San Fernando Cathedral, located in the heart of downtown SA. Learned this from cousin, who lives in Goliad, Texas

We are Cabrera from the Philippines. Likewise, I am seeking our grandfather, INOCENCIO TAMAYO CABRERA,to complete our Family Tree. He had 4 other brothers and one of them is my mother's father. He migrated in the 1930's to California. He went home in the 60's and mentioned that he had a wife named BARBARA and that a son was a Pilot. He also changed his name to Leonard Cabrera. Searched at myheritage.com the other day and found that he had already died.

I hope this helps a little.

Looking for anyone doing family research on Cabrera's living in Arizona in late 1800's. We're trying to find parents and/or siblings of Celso (Selso) Cabrera. The only information that we have is he was born in AZ around 1884. (This information came from his WWI draft record). Came to GA/TN after the close of the Spanish-American War. Lived in that area until his death in 1940. We have information on him after he came to our area (GA/TN) But we have hit a brick wall on finding information before 1910.

Hi,I read your response to Miriam, and found it much like mine. My Great,Great Grandfather Jose Cabrera, went to Cuba, from the Canary Islands @ 1859,then proceeded to Key West,Florida by 1863. I assume he married in Canary Islands, because his wife Amelia was also from Canary Islands.
Glenda
