Does anyone out there have a clue why the surname De Cuyper (or De Kuyper) became Cadmus? I spent my first 13 years convinced we were somehow Greek, until I finally confronted my Grandfather and found out we're Dutch. After that I spent 20 some odd years being baffled till I got online and started researching. That's when I found out about the De Cuyper (De Kuyper) surname, which made much more sense for a Dutch family. But why the switch? and why Cadmus?
Would love to hear the story behind that change!
