I know this is an old post but thought I would put in my two cents worth.
There was a Jonas Lykins who opened a grocery store in Prarie Creek, Vigo IN near Tere Haute about 1817.
I found this looking for my Lykins/Likens line. My Lykins/Likens line went from PA to Fayette County WV (then VA).
It is suggested by Ancestry that Jonas was the s/o Peter Lykins and Mary Garrett/Jarrett who went to Fayette County (W_) VA. I don't know this as fact.
I have wondered if there is truely a connection.
