Catherine CAFFREY married William NELSON

I found the marriage of Catherine Caffrey to William Nelson in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Pennylvania. They were married September 23, 1828. The only other Nelson in this record was my ancestor William Gustavus Renceious Nelson. Which I am wondering if anyone of this family might have more information on these two. Thanks

Eleanor/Elinor Caffery who married John Kington appears to be a daughter of one of the Caffery family believed to be a John maybe? Married in Campbell Co Va. moved to Sullivan, Roane, and Morgan counties. I believe Sullivan was Va and Roane and Morgan were definitely in TN. Do you know who her father & mother were?

Hello Donna,

A Mary Ann Caffery married Phillip Gould in Brisbane in 1893. However, there was also a Mary Ann Caffrey who married Michael Markham in Queensland in 1894.

There are Queensland death records for 10 of her 11 siblings but none for either Mary Ann Caffery/Caffrey or Phillip Gould although there is for their son, Phillip Henry Gould (d 1939). There is also no death record for Michael Markham.

Regards, Paul Ryan

Hello Michael,
I'm Paul Ryan, 4th gen descendant of Patrick Caffery, my grandmother was Theresa, his grand daughter. I live outside Gympie.

I have a well thumbed copy of "Shamrocks under the Southern Cross" - about 20 years old and mainly about Dwyers (Theresa's other grandmother was a Dwyer). Would the booklet you refer to? If not, I would be very interested in knowing more about the booklet you refer to.

Best wishes

I recently found the marriage bond for John Caffery and Mary Donelson and they married with John Donelson's approval - so they didn't elope. I also found proof of his service in the Revolutionary War. I am hoping to have his service recognized by the DAR. Let me know if you would like a copy. Sarah Hardy

Hi I am looking for information regarding my grandparents Hugh and Alice Caffery. I know very little, Hugh died in the 1960's but I can find no records, I believe he served in the war but not sure which one, Alice born 1907 died in Gloucester in 1992. They lived in Birmingham during their married life. I think Alice's maiden name may have been Clark or Clarke. They had two children Maureen and John (my father who died in 1987) Maureen died Maureen Smith several years later. I know of an uncle George and Mari or Marie who lived in Birmingham and also an Auntie Maud Childer (married name) who still lives in West Midlands any information would be great.
Re: John Caffery

i know of a john caffery who was born in the late 1700's and was teh brother of Donelson Caffery who came to St. Mary Parish, Louisiana as the overseer or manager of the plantation of Alexander Porter, also of Nashville, La. and both were friends of President Andrew jackson. Donelson Caffery was married to Mary donelson, who was a sister to Rachel Donelson, who was the wife of Andrew Jackson, and they had another brother who was married to a Miss Murphy, who was a daughter of John Murphy of St. Mary Parish. This Caffery family had a another brother, John Caffery, who left St. Mary and was last heard from in Arkansas and no one knows what happened to John Caffery. I know that the St. mary Parish Caffery family has ascendants originally from Ireland, so there might be a connection.
