My grandfather was Leo Michael Cafiero who was ten years old when he immigrated to this country with his father (?) in the 1890's. He was born in Sorrento. I had two great aunts who lived and died in NYC, Aunt Anna and Aunt Tina who were his sisters. My grandfather Leo moved to Donaldsonville, LA and married Irene Stanley. Her sister Florence married his brother Joe. I still have Cafiero cousins living in Donaldsonville and I live in Denver Colorado. My grandfather Leo Cafiero died in 1949 of heart failure at the age of 60 +. He was a very wealthy man, built sugar mills and would transport them to the Islands and Latin America--where ever there was a need. He had three children with Irene, Seraphine--deceased with no children, Lucille Cafier Glober, my mother with (2) daughters--Joyce (that's me) and my sister Jane O'Koon who lives in Newburgh NY. I have one daughter, Sarah Martzolf who is 24 and she has one daughter, Joyce, who is 35 and lives in NYC.

The Sorrento Cafiero's were a wealthy family in Sorrento and owned land there that was to become a hospital and named in memory of the family. My mother and sister tried to trace the records in Sorrento but nothing was found.

I hope this adds some information to your search--Good luck.
