He had no children with his third wife, Elizabeth Hale (who was the widow of Edward C. Stephenson and, interestingly, the sister of William Hale, husband of his eldest daughter, Priscilla Cage Hale).

As to who his parents were, that has big a huge conundrum for Cage genealogists for decades.  He was almost certainly the grandson of William Cage (ca. 1698-aft. 1752) & Margaret Wilson of Charles Co. MD, probably through a son, also called William Cage, of Prince William Co. VA and about whom very little is known.

As to who his mother might have been, that is a complete mystery.  My pet theory is that she was was a daughter of John & Frances Lofton/Loftain of Charles Co. MD and probably named Priscilla, but that is based on nothing more than sheer speculation.

I believe this information is the most up-to-date and accurate, but it’s amazing how much new information still turns up.  For instance, it has widely been assumed that Richard Cage (who is named as a son Maj. William Cage’s will) is the same as Pulaski Cage (who is not mentioned in his will, but was unquestionably one of his sons).  However, the “Calendar of the Miscellaneous Letters Received by the Department of State” (available on Google Books) records several petitions dated 1814-1819 for the release Richard H. Cage, imprisoned from 1813 at San Antonio, Mexico (now Texas). One of these documents is a 15 Dec 1814 affidavit by Polaski [sic] Cage regarding the Richard’s citizenship, which seems conclusive evidence that they were two different sons.
