Ulysses Manson Grasty is my 4th g grand uncle, brother of my 4th g grandfather James Robert Grasty. One of his sons, William Robert Grasty is my 3rd g grandfather. He married May Polly Wright, who according to a cousin of mine in CA, connects to Major Francis Wright, grandfather to George Washington. Major Wright married Anne Washingingon in 1680. I have not been able to authenticate this connection. Do you have any information regarding the Grasty/Wright connection?

Additional update on Ellen Cagle. It appears that Ellen Cagle married Thomas Connor (also spelled Conor and Conner) in 1913? and died in 1924. A copy of the death certificate lists her parents as Alvi Cagle and Elvira Heads which goes along with information I previously found researching George. She left behind the following children that I have been able to identify - Jenny? (1911), David (b 1913), Charity (b 1915), Thomas James (b 1917), John (b 1919,) Charley (b 1921 - d Feb 1925), and Causey (b 1924).

It appears that Elvira had a daughter Roxanna Heads born around 1874. The next year 1875) Elvira Heads married Neil Lammonds (Lamonds) with whom she had several children by the time of the 1880 census (Minnie Lee, Arie, and Loretta). I am still working on finding the marriage record for Elvira Heads and Alvis Cagle.

I am looking for information on an uncle of my grandfather, Oscar Burdett Cagle.
Lewis or Louis C Cagle was born to Enoch Cagle and Sarah Jane Holmes. He is buried in the Square Rock Cemetery in or near Waldron, Scott Co, AR. He died in 1894. He married Catherine Huges while they were in TN, where they were both born and raised.
Specifically, I need to know what the "C" in his middle name stands for. It would help me a great deal in my research on my dad's family.

Re: George/Ellen/Bessie Cagle - Parents??

Just to follow-up on this post. After further research, I have had a little success in answering some of my questions.

From NC marriage records, it appears that George was indeed the son of Alvis J and Elvira (maiden name unknown) Cagle. Bessie Cagle was the daughter and only child of Queen R. Cagle, in most likelihood, illegitimate as Queen married once in 1908 to Oscar McQueen. Interesting side note: Queen appears to have died between 1910 and 1912. In late 1912, her daughter Bessie married Oscar McQueen.

I am still looking for any information regarding Ellen Cagle. It is possible that she was George's sister but I need to find something more concrete.

Pink Cagle was also a ggrandfather of my husband, Tom Harris. His mother is Vera Frances (Jordan) Harris, after her mother Vera Frances (Cagle)Jordan. Her mother went by Vera, his mother goes by Frances. He does have a copy of a certificate of sorts on Pink from the Governor of Georgia appointing him Second Lieutenant of the "Jefferson Dragoons" on the 5th of September 1874. I have not researched this to see what it is. He can be reached at tbobharris@gmail.com
