Hi Marla,
I remember you from when you were a very small child. I'm your father's sister, Rosie. As you said Mom and Dad came to the U.S. from Mexico. Her name was Josephine Carmen Jimenez. I know she has sisters and we have relatives in Mexico I've never met.. Dad, Alfred, always talked about the beautiful home he came from in Mexico. He painted beautiful landscapes with oils that always displayed hillsides of flowers and said this is how he remembered Mexico. His parents, or one of his parents, were from France. Many of his relatives, I've been told, resided in El Paso, Texas when they moved to the U.S. He had a sister Fannie. I have never met any of the Caires outside of Wichita. He did have a brother, Uncle Charlie, who also lived in Wichita. Email if you ever want to visit more.

Since the records for Briancon are now available online, I can tell you that Louis Justinien Caire was born 29 Feb 1820 in Briancon. His father was Jean Baptiste and his mother was Marie Anne Adelaide Arduin. Jean Baptiste was 40 years old.

The website for the department of Hautes-Alpes is at www.archives05.fr. It is, of course, in French.

Hope this info helps with your research.

I am interested in Justinian Caire (1827-1897), born in Briancon, France and immigrated to California in 1851. He was the son of Jean Baptiste Caire (1778-1874) and Marie Ann Arduin (d. 1855) who had 13 (or so) children. Justinian married Albina Christina Sarra Candida Maria Molfino (1831-1924) and they had nine children, six of whom survived to adulthood, many of whose children did not marry or became nuns/priests. Can anyone connect the Caire's of New Orleans to these Caires from Briancon? [I have published data on Justinian Caire's descendants if anyone wants info.]

Hi Marla, I have information on the Caires. It's a bit long to put in this message so if you would like to email me, go ahead.Originally, some Caires from France went to Mexico on a conquest. After the conquest some stayed in Mexico and some went north to America.I'll have to look it all up (it's been a while). The Caire's that I am from are from Pookepsie, NY. We are all probably related since there are so few of us.There are also a few Caires here in New Mexico, were I am now. They are probably the Spanish Caires. If you want the information that I have, let me know.

Hello, my great grand mother's maiden name was Eva Caire Born October 30, 1884. She was a mulatto and lived in St John the Baptist parish in New Orleans. However, she passed away in 1979 in New York. She migrated there in 1946 at the age of 62. Do you think she is the same. I have a little more information. She is buried in NY.
Linda Pharr

Hello, I am looking for Adam Caire my great great grand father. Only records I can find are that of his marriage to my great great grandmother Sophie Antoine in St John the Baptist Parish. I estimate he may have died as Sophie remarried in 1826. I estimate he may have lived between 1813 and 1826. They had one child Eva Caire. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Linda Pharr

Hello, my name is Linda Pharr and my great great grandfather's name was Adam Caire, from St. John the Baptist township in New Orleans Louisiana. The only information I can find on him is his marriage to my great great grandmother Sophie Antoine in 1880. They had one child my great grandmother Eva Caire. Sophie remarried in 1886 and had six more children, last name Marcelin. Adam Caire seems to have diappeared. Does he show up in your data? Linda

Bill,
I am the original poster of this thread. My Grandfather (Denis John Campbell III) was the son of Isabel E. Caire and Denis John Campbell II. Since my orignial post, I have lost most of my information on the Caire side of the tree. Do you have any more information that would be helpful to me? It seems to me that you might have been in New Orleans with my mom, Claudia Krause and my Grandfather for a birthday of some sort.
Thank you for any information you might be able to share!
Take Care
Katherine Ross

I have started a tree, but it only goes back to my great-grandfather Arthur Caire Jr (old Dr Caire). He was an OBGYN in NOLA. I have limited information older than his generation. I am especially interested in the geneology of Arthur Caire sr, also of New Orleans and his parents.

Are you Donna Caire or related to her. She and I met in LA and shared our family tree. Dr. Arthur Caire (older) delivered me in New Orleans, LA. Perhaps your grandfather or great grandfather. My mother referred to him as "old Dr. Caire". He also approved cousins (Troxler's and Caire's) marriage.

A long time since your reply. But we are definitely in the same favily tree. What causes a lot of confusion in the tree involves the Caire's and Troxler's marrying into the other family twice. My Family Tree Maker software became a little confused. Please respond if you are still active in this quest. Thank you. Carol (my mother was a Caire)

She also tried to start a gourmet cat food company. This was before all the gourmet pet foods ever took off. Unfortunately, it failed. I am interested in the N.O. Caire's. I know there are a lot there. I was wondering if anyone could connect the two families. Robin Caire-Beacham

Hi. My name is Michael (Kaleem) Caire. Most people refer to me as Kaleem. I was born in Madison, WI. My mother's name was Corrine Caire and grandfather's name was Edgar Pierce Caire. My grandfather's family resided from St. John's the Baptist Parishes in Lousiana. My Grandfather's father's name was Edgar Caire, Jr. (born in 1890) and his father's name was Edgar Caire, Sr. (born in France in 1854). Edgar Sr.'s wife's name was Alice. She was born in 1860 but we do not know where. Edgar Sr. had four sisters (Marie, Elida, Alice, and Corinne) and two brothers (Fergus and Etienne). Edgar Sr. was a farm laborer. We believe Edgar Sr. had a brother named Frank Caire, also born in France in 1850 but resided in St. John's Parish. Frank had a young wife named Alice in 1900 (she was 18 years old) and a son named Frank, Jr. who was 8 years old. All of my family members were black. Any assistance you can give me would be helpful.

We know our family was very connected to the white Caire's of St. John's and Edgard Parishes, but we have had difficulty making the connection. Thank you.
