Pierre Paul Caissy to the South Seas

Found this in my old files.
Anyone know if the story was ever published?
Could Vincent contact me
=
Subject: [ACADIAN] Acadian to Tahati
I found the note on our cousin Pierre Paul Caissy who went to the South Seas.
Anyone descendent or closely related?
I know i said Tahiti but I was close.
Paul
.
Sent: Fri, Dec 3, 2004 2:57 pm
.
Pierre Paul married Francoise Bedel in St Servan on January 3, 1786. A son Pierre Michel was born on November 5 1786, in St Servan. The records show that he was baptized the following day and that his father was absent, no reason given. Pierre Michel died on 3 Feb 1792, in St Servan. (I have a photocopy of that record) In 1788 Pierre Paul embarked on the ship Le Conte de la Lucerne, as a sail maker, on a voyage to what is now Mauritius Island and although he was to return to France, he never did. Paul was counted in a 1796 Census on Mauritius (Ile de France as it was then known) and his profession listed is that of "maitre de danse" (dance instructor). He died in Mauritius (Riviere Noire) in January of 1825. We do not know what happened to Francoise Bedel. Perhaps she died before 1788 and it might explain why Pierre Paul sailed away. Mrs Marie Quessy/Owen of Sydney, Australia, a direct descendant of Pierre Paul has done some excellent research in France and in the Seychelles and Pierre Paul's history is well documented. The Quessy of Australia, Mauritius and Reunion Island are descendants of this Pierre Paul. The history of that branch of the family is fascinating and I hope that Mrs Owen will soon publish her research.
.
Vincent
François Caisse -Trois-Rivières via Besançon, France

(en français ci-dessous)

Hello,

I know that several people have linked François Caisse (Marie-Louise Sauvage) to his birth in Besançon, France including a date of 1720. However, I haven't seen any verified sources for it yet. Same for his parents Etienne Caisse (1685) and Michelle Mougin (1738) from the St-Feu Seveux area of Franche-Comté region.

Does anyone have a details on this yet including a scan of birth/baptismal, marriage or death certificates?

If not, I'd be willing to drive from my home in Belgium to Besançon to check it out, but I would want to be prepared. It's a six hour drive each way with big tolls.

Thanks!
Leo

Merci d’avance,
Leo
Alex, I am trying to research caisse's in my family history. The word on the street is that you are the man to ask. hermine Caisse born abt Oct 1856 in LaPrairie, Quebec who married Edouard (Edward) Demers, or Pierre Caisse born abt 1816 who married possibly Marguerite Boucher, and they had a daughter Marie Delima Caisse? Can you perhaps shed some light?

Thank You,
Christina Bryan

I'll check the family bible.. and yes its confusing. lets just say there were some trunks of the tree branches that went straight if you will. My father and mother were actually related.. as my Mother and my Grandmother (my Dad's mom, gloriette) were sisters... it happened before as well, and yes it was hard to understand as a child..

Hello Alex,
I just became a member of this site today. I am attempting to trace back my Grandfather. Unfortunetly I do not have much to go on. His name was Ferdinand H. Caisse, he was born in 1908 and passed away in 1967. He was married to Delia (Perron) Caisse and when he died they resided in Dudley, Massachusetts. I believe he was born in Connecticut. The 1930 U.S Cenus had him living with a cousin in Putnam, Ct. If you have any information or advice...I would so appreciate it. Thank you - Gina Daniels-Christenson

There's a ton of information on the Caisse family, as it is very old and very large. It's also fairly confusing. I don't know Wilfred however. Do you have his father's name? I know Joseph Sr. had atleast 3 sons who reached adulthood: Joseph Louis Jr., Edward Elzear, and Leon Joseph Bert.

I am Brenda McVittie-Packham and in my family tree a McVittie married a Slater, whose mother was Lillian Caisse. In Bracebridge. I believe Lillian is a sister to Rene Caisse but I have not been able to find a full listing for the 8 daughters and 3 sons of Joseph Caisse and Friselda Potvin. Have you?

My parents divorced in 1959 and I lost contact with all of my relatives on the Wedda side. I know I have at least one half sister named Lisa. I sure would like to someday find her.

Looking for any relatives of Rene Caisse (1888-1978), the famous advocate for Essiac. She was my great-great aunt. She was 1 of 11 children born to Joseph Louis Caisse Sr (1855-1916) and Friselde Potvin from Lachine, Que (1858-1948) m. 1876 in Petersburg, Waterloo, ON. Joseph had owned a barber shop on Manitoba St in 1912 in Bracebridge. No known parents or siblings exist for Joseph Sr. Friselde's parents were apparently Louis Potvin and Amelia Barrie (Emily Barry). Her known siblings were: Mireza, Joseph Louis, Elzear, Ferdinand, Archibald, and Marie.
