Hello Ralph Mucher,

This is just a shot in the dark, but I'm wondering if you might have any information at all on John (Johann) Mucher who, I think, is your g-g-grandfather. According to census records and other sources John Mucher was born 23 Dec 1830 in Germany, immigrated to U.S. in 1837, served in the 16th Pa. Cavalry in 1865, died at Lykens, Pa. 7 May 1915.

A copy of his death certificate is attached. There is no information about his parentage, and that's the stone wall I've run into when researching his line.

John Mucher is also my g-g-grandfather. My dad was born John Alton Mucher in 1910, and then adopted as John Alton Calaman in 1911 after his biological parents divorced. Dad and his father, Harrison Mucher later reunited with Harrison living next door to our family in the 1950s and 1960s.

John Calaman
