I'm Ana, from Louisiana. I too am looking for infromation on family (Calais), My mother is a Calais who was born to George Calais and Fabiola Noel from Cecilia, Louisiana. My Grandfathers parents were Clamille Calais and Helen Daigle. I would like to find out more information.

Hi, my name is Ana Phillips, I too am trying to search family history on the Calais side of the family, me as well have our Calais name change to kelly. I do have an uncle who has enlightend me on some of our family history- he lives in Houston, Texas and is named Donald Calais (kelly), as well as an Auntie Georgia Calais (kelly). My mothers' maiden name is Calais (Eva), and her father was George Calais from Cecilia, La, Grandparents Clamille Calais and Helen Daigle. That's as far as I have gotten; however I would like to dig a little deeper into our heritage.

Hello,

I am trying to locate information on Emar Calais. His wife's name was Felicia. I believe his father was Carmine. At some point, the Calais name became Kelly and Emar became Amos. Savannah Kelly (Sevena Calais) is my grandmother daughter of Emar and Felicia Calais.
Any information would be helpful.

I'm helping friends named "Calease" with their genealogy, and they believe their surname was originally "Calais." Since they are Protestant, it seems likely that their original ancestor was a Huguenot. I wonder who can show me how to go about this.

I have the name given as "Jean Calis" rather than "Jean Calais". The origin of this name is from Italy--means chalice---goes through France, then Rotterdam and finally to Bristol Enland before coming over to America and ending up in Virginia and later N.C. What are the documents you have for Calais? The papers I have were given to me by my father's family.

I am searching for any information on my g.grandfather AUGUSTE CALAIS. Family history has him coming from the Alsace region of France in the 1860's. The only record I have on him thus far is his tombstone in the Plaquemine Cemetery, Plaquemine, Louisiana. A daughter was born to him and ROSINE MUENIER CALAIS in 1869 in New Orleans, La.

Looking for any information on Theard Calais from Louisiana, I believe he may have been born in 1902 & died in 1968 & that is about all I know, he his wife name may have been Aline ?.
I believe he is related to me but cannot find the connection.

I have just re-discovered a note written by Martha D. Calais (daughter of John Dudley Calais) which states that Jean Calais' wife was Elizabeth McCoy - a Scotch Irish girl.

The reason I asked how you found Benjamin Andrus without knowing Henry Wiliam Ritters Androus's name is because we hit a roadblock using Henry Ellsworth Androus. Benjamin's wife is Caty Calais, his father is Isaac Andrus b. 22 apr 1731 d. 30 jun 1824. Isaac's wives: Mrs Anna Spencer, Freelove Wilcox, Truelove Oatman, and Elizabeth Tracy (one at a time), Truelove b. 4 Jan 1755 d. 4 Jan 1804 is the mother of all the children. John Andrus III is Isaac's father and Ruth Gates is mother. Most of this info comes from Ancestry.com

Hi there - Are we cousins? I'm at work, and don't have my reference stuff here. My father was Richard Leroy Androus. I'm doing this from memory so please bare with me! My dad's parents were Millard Fillmore Androus and Nona Z. Taggart. Millard's parents were James Edmund Androus and Sophia E. Sherman. James Edmund Androus was the son of Henry Ellsworth Androus and Amanda Hills. Henry's father was Benjamin Androus, who married Caty Calais. The Benjamin and Caty part I got from a document that I believe was put together by Shirley Reager. So, what branch of the family are your from?

Sounds as if we're looking for the same person, maybe.

Are you saying that Jeane Calais daughter, Elizabeth, married someone named Cucuamacus but kept her father's name (Calais) but changed it to Cale? and that Jeane Calais was then known as John Cale?

Who is Cucuamacus? What more do you know about Elizabeth? What more do you know about Jeane - do you know his parents? I don't. Just wondering what further info you might have!!!

He was a huganot that came from England or France.
Last know around 1710 in Bertie Co. Nc. and in Va.
Cucuamacus married Jean Calais daughter named (Elizabeth)
and took on her fathers name Calais, changing it to Cale.
And was then known by the name John Cale.
