Calbert/Colbert

I am researching Robert J. (about 1824-1884) and (Mary) Catherine Colbert (about 1827-1904) who moved to Johnstown, Pa in the middle 1800's. I show a marriage record in Shenandoah Co Va. for Robert Calbert and Catherine Peer November 19, 1846. I cannot find any father or mother or siblings for Robert. If anyone has any information, I would appreciate your sharing it with me.
I have found an 1882 wedding invitation on a silk ribbon. Mr & Mrs Thomas L Calbert invite to the marriage of their daughter G. E. Calbert to M. S. Bailey on 7 Sept 1882 at Christ Church. No other data. I cannot recall how I found this but could have been with my Grandmother's things [ she was b 1896 ] or in an old Aunt's things. Grandmother lived in Indiana but Aunt in Oregon. If anyone has these people in their family, I'll be happy to send the ribbon invitation. It is 2 1/2 inches wide by 11 inches long. I also am doing family research and know this type of item is precious.

It has been shown that in years past, the above names were often used interchangeably. At present, there is a DNA project underway to determine the various family lines.
If anyone is interested, please contact me.

Larry

Sept 14, 2004

Hi Bill,

There are a lot of William Calberts. My gg is a William Calbert, he was named after his father, William. Who he was named after I can't be sure, I do know the original William and his wife Mary came from Ireland in the 1800's. If you would more information, you can email me or call if you like at 708-597-4887.

I am a descendant of William Calbert. He also named one of his sons William and that was my gg. My gf was named Jimmy and he had several brothers and sisters. The family history is really too confusing to post it all here so you can email me if you want to compare notes.
