My husband and your husband are 3rd cousins, in other words they share the same Great-great grandfather (George Calder who married Elizabeth Williamson).

George and Elizabeth had 10 children: Anne (1821) George (1824) Helen (1826) Alexander (1828) James (1830) William (1832) David (1835) Elizabeth (1836) John (1838) Mary (1842)

My husband is descended from David. He emigrated to Durban, South Africa in 1877. My husband was born there but his family returned to the UK in the 1960's. We now live near London.

We have seen the gravestones for George Calder and Elizabeth Williamson as well as those for William Calder and Isabella Sparks. They are all buried in the churchyard in Aberlemno which is near Forfar. The descendants of another of William and Isabella's sons - William Spark Calder still live in the area and we have traced them
