I have my files on Rootsweb.com under the name Mexico.. you can go to the index and see if anything looks familiar to you. I have found the most Caldera's living in Zacatecas with some in Jalisco in the 1800's.

Thanks! i will do some investigating. my grandmothers middle name began with an M however she may have used matilde for her first name and maria for the middle initial. i will ask the cousins who are still alive if any of this rings a bell. I appreciate your responses

YES! Matilde was born June 3, 1906 and she died in 1993. I have no parent names, no sibling names or town and state in Mexico. We are literally clueless here...

My Grandmother was Matilde Caldera with her father's name as possibly Franco...could this have been short for Francisco or Frank? Possibly the same family? Im searching for my family so any and all help is appreciated!

Hello, im kind of new to all this research. Am looking for my grandmother's family. Her name was Matilde Caldera. Not sure of her parents names. Possibly Franco for her father. My grandfather's name was Manuel Caldera and he was also born in El Durazno, Zacatecas.

My ancestors on my grandma's side came from Zacatecas, through possibly Texas and ended in Los Angeles California. My gggreat grandpa was Luis Delgado, wife Fermina C. Delgado both died and buried in Los Angeles.

What are the possible name changes or mistakes for Caldera?

Coming through Zacatecas, Mexico. My Great Grandma's death certificate has Fermina Caldar as mother, but Fermina's death certificate list Feliciana as Caldaron or Calderon [bad printing makes it hard to make out]. I found my note where my grandma told me that her great grandparents were buried in the same cemetery as her grandparents, so I wrote to Evergreen Cemetery in Los Angeles, and they found Feliciana Caldera 1935, age 101. My grandma remembered her great grandma, so this would be around the same years. I'd have to do more research to see if she is indeed my ggggrandma.

Hello, I recently came across a Dolores Caldera in my tree. She was born in November 1881 in Trujillo, Zacatecas, Mexico. She's the daughter of Simon Caldera and Matiana Galvan. She had four siblings - Refugia, Antonia, Jose and Margarita.

Any chance there's a match here?

My fathers name was Fabian Caldera married to Manuela Caldera they lived in Calera, Zacatecas his fathers name was Porfirio and his Mothers name was Maxima her fathers name was Jose Caldera and her mothers name was Estanislada (mama tanis) I would love to find out what my Great Grandparents names were. My Father was born in 1900 and my Mother was born in 1907.

Yes some of the Caldera family did migrate to Portugal. But from what I have learned a lot of them originated in Italy and then migrated to other countries including Mexico which is where my particular branch is from. There is a woman I know who also has a lot of information. Her great-grandmother was born a Caldera. She has posted information on Ancestry too about the Caldera family. Her name is Erlinda Castanon Long. I don't know if her info is still on here. It's been a long time since I've visited this site. I'll see if I can find it and post the link somehow. Take care.

Hello all. I'm new to this geneology thing and I too am looking for hints on the Caldera name. My grandfather was Miguel Caldera (B-1903,D-1996) and hit father was Simon Caldera(B-1865). Simon was married to a Carlota (B abt 1880) and they were from Mexico, married in El Paso in 1918 but can't get much more than that.

I heard the Caldera name originated in Portugal, but not sure I can go far back enough to make the connection. Anyway, any help would be most appreciated! Thanks!

I just got off the phone with my dad and asked him about the names you mentioned but he doesn't recall ever hearing them before. He is gonna be 90 this year so his memory is not as sharp as it used to be. There is another relative who has been researching the Caldera family. She may have some information for you as well to help find where on the family tree your family is connected. I am going to send her a copy of the message you left and one of my own. Linda does have a lot of information too and the other lady I mentioned, her name is Ruth, has quite a bit as well. My email address is wolfwoman9@hotmail.com. Oh and my dad has hazel eyes and his hair was blond when he was a little boy but darkened to brown/black as he got older. My dad had a little brother named Manuel by the way but he was killed during the 2nd World War. Based just on that and the fact you mentioned Abundio Caldera tells me we are related. hello linda, my name is aldo caldera i live in san diego ca. my grand parents were from fresnillo zac. thats about 50 minutes from jerez, i saw tht you been doing alot of research on the Caldera's roots i really like to know were i came from and you seem to know a lot of it.i don't know but we might be related, what i know is that my great grandfather was from the 1800's and his name was salvador caldera an lived in fresnillo zacatecas. and his son a miner wich was my grandpa samuel caldera and had a brother salvador and a sister sofia,and they all lived in fresnillo in el barrio alto can u please help me hang my family on one of the branches of that wondeful Caldera tree of ours thank you and write me back please aldo_caldera@hotmail.com

hello nilla,my name is aldo caldera i live in san diego ca,my grandparents were from zacatecas zac.and my dad was born in fresnillo zacatecas,thats about 30 miles north from zac,i remember my dad always talked about his uncle manuel and abundio caldera that owned a ranch in the outskirts of zacatecas and were cousins to my grandpa samuel Caldera . Guadalupe Becerra is my grandmother's maiden name. The birth date of my grandfather is around the late 1880's or early 1890's. My grandmother was born in 1896, I believe.

where is your Caldera family from? I have 3 Caldera grandmothers from the district of Jerez Zacatecas Mexico, We believe the lines goes back to El Capitan Miguel Caldera's sister Maria's line since they kept the Caldera surname and not her husbands.my gr-grandmother Maria Gertrudis Caldera, 1869, Vicenta Caldera, abt 1836 and Leonarda Caldera abt 1710 I also have my records on Rootsweb.com, you might want to check it out for names that might be familiar to you.

Hi Lucy, I have your family lines posted on Rootsweb.com, you can go to family tree, then pedrigree in text form. From my understanding all the Caldera families are actually from one family tree. The problem is the missing years for records to connect them together.

I went to El Durazno in 2003 with your cousin Florence Cuevas, daughter of Donaciano Cuevas, brother of Delfina. Donaciano was married to my grandfathers sister, Paula Castanon.

My mother is a Reveles-Caldera from El Durazno Zacatecas, Mexico. Her family lineage is Luz Caldera Dela Cueva married to Tranquilino Reveles Dela Cueva. I believe her grandparents(my great grandparents) were also born & raised in El Durazno as well, they are Cruz Caldera & Delfina Dela Cueva.
Hope it helps...please feel free to contact me if you need more info...it is my understanding that there were 3 distinct Caldera families still living in the same area...of course lots of them now live here in the USA.

Father is Enrique Caldera, of Cuidad Juarez. Brothers Antonio, Pedro, Manuel, Concepcion, Mariano, Grandfather Antonio Caldera, of Zacatecas. He had a brother by the name of Benjamin Caldera. That is all the information I have as of now. If anyone has some input or more information, please let me know.

There were both Caldera and Calderon in Zacatecas. You did not post any approximate dates other than Feliciana Caldera/Calderon born abt 1835 died 1935. Don't put too much stock into ages put on headstones. I have not found many from the 1850's or so that were correct.. If your family was from Jerez there are lots of missing records when doing research. I did post all my research for the Caldera lines on Ancestry.com so I wish you luck in your search for family.

It's been a few years but I am no closer to learning about my branch of the Caldera family. ANYONE with info please let me know. My father is Phillip (Felipe) Reyes Caldera, his parents were Abundio Caldera and Librada Reyes. My dad was born in August of 1921 and is still living. I think my great grandfather's name was Victor Caldera. My dad's parents were orginaly from Mexico. I think Abundio Caldera was born in Zacatecas, Mexico. Not sure about grandmother's place of birth. Was told she was born near the Texas/Mexico border.

My name is Nilla A Caldera (Gonzalez). My father is Phillip Reyes Caldera, Grandfather was Abundio Caldera born in Zacztecas, Zacatecas, Mexico. I believe that my grandfather may have been married before in Mexico but had to leave due to some kind of family problem. He married my grandmother, Librada Reyes sometime in the early 1900's. Toribio, I've posted your family tree on ancestry.com. Go to family tree, put in the name of Simon Caldera or Martina Acuna and it will give you their lines as I have them. If you'd like any other names I'd be happy to give you what I have in my files. We are from the same families. My Castanon/Caldera gr-grandparents left Durazno in 1916 when my gr-grandfather Vicente Castanon was tied to an ox-yoke to be shot by the federales. My family went to the Fresno and Stockton California areas. Hope to hear from you.

We share family lines. Simon and Martina were married in 1907 in Jerez. I have for children for them: Tranquilino, born 1913, Cirilo born 1914 and Bartola born 1915. If this is your line I have your lineage back to about 1680, let me know, I'm always happy to share records. You also have Castanon's in your family tree. Let me know if you'd like the records.

My g-grandmother was Getrudes Caldera, married Vincente Castanon. Getrudes was born in 1864, in El Durasno. She had a sister Gregoria Caldera who was older than her, not sure how old.. She also had a brother, Julio Caldera who died at age 23, don't know if he was married or had children. Getrudes parents were Ambrosio Caldera and mother Marcos Arcalan.
My g-g-grandmother was also a Caldera, her name was Vicenta Caldera married to Blas Castanon. I don't have their birthdates yet. Vincenta's son (Getrudes brother) also married a Caldera. Rosalia Caldera married to Apolonio Castanon. Apolonio was born about 1860 so Rosalia would have been about that age too we assume.
We don't know if any of these Caldera's were related to each other or not! I have ordered microfilm from LDS so I should start getting answers soon. I'll let you know what I find. What names are you looking for and what dates were they born?
