I keep hitting a dead end. James Calderwood was born in 1700 - either in Londonderry, Ireland or in Lanarkshire, Scotland. He married Margaret - some records say Longmuir, some say her last name is unknown. They came to the US in 1725 from Londonderry. At least one child was born in Ireland.

Where was he from and who were his parents? Where did his parents live and die? Were they in Ireland for a generation or two or was he born in Scotland and came on to the US with less than a year in Ireland?

I've been searching for someone who was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland and died in Londonderry, Ireland in hopes of finding his father.

Anyone have any leads on this?
Or any advice on where in Scotland to find where our ancestors are buried?
