Robert L. Caldwell, 80, of Erie,PA,
died on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, delivered to the waiting arms of his cherished wife. He was born in Erie, Pa. on October 28, 1931, son of the late Harry W. Caldwell and Bernice (Dalrymple) Caldwell Ives. He served in the U. S. Navy. Bob was last employed as a supervisor at American Sterilizer, retiring after 20 years of service. enjoyed spending time with all of his family and friends, fishing, camping and was an avid hockey fan, a fan of the Erie Otters and NASCAR. He is preceded in death by his parents, and step father, Arthur Ives. His wife of 59 years, Dolores J. (Beezub) Caldwell. Sisters, Irma Nelson, Dorothy McCleary, Alma Bromley, and Margaret Edwards. Brothers, Lester O. Caldwell, Sr., Harold Caldwell and Clifford Caldwell. A step sister, Evelyn Coverdale. Survivors include his children, Robert A. Caldwell and his wife, Beverly of Waterford, Lester A. Caldwell of Erie, Robin Ann Eicher and her husband, Timothy of Erie, Jeffrey A. Caldwell and his wife, Shirley of Erie, and Jennifer L. Caldwell and her husband, Eric Strong of McKean, Pa. A brother, James DeWolf and his wife, Marion of Erie. Grandchildren, Jason Caldwell and his wife Lisa, Daniel Caldwell and his fiancé Shawnda, Patrick and Christy McLallen, Cheryll Snyder and her husband, Joseph and James R. Eicher. Great grandchildren, Jackson, Layne, Jayden, Lincoln, Alexa, Timothy, Sheryl, Nicholas, Leiah, Liam and Leah. He is also survived by many beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends and neighbors he considered family. Friends may call at the Merle E. Wood Funeral Home, Inc., 215 West 25th St., on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a prayer service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Luke's Church at10 a.m. Send condolences to www.merlewoodfh.com
