Info on Caldwells from Rock Co Register of Deeds Office, Janesville WI: Marriage: Vol 1 page 133 on Aug 29,1854, Lewis Caldwell of Milton married Gloria Wilcox. Her father Edmund, mother Maria. No parents listed for Lewis.

A marriage is recorded in Vol 1on May 1,1854, but the page is not written in. Marriage was for Martha J. Caldwell.

Vol 3 page 351 Thomas Caldwell, father James, mother Eliza, he is a farmer in Janesville, married Lacey? (not written well) Billings, father Caleb, mother Phebe, on Nov 12, 1868 in Janesville,WI.

Deaths: Vol 2 page 6, Edward John Caldwell on Dec 9,1882. 21 yrs of age, born Apr 2, 1863 to Wm E. and Rhonda in WI. Wife Christina Laura McNitt. He was a painter, died of Typoid fever, buried Otter Creek.

Is anyone researching the Caldwell family in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania? My ancestress Mary Caldwell lived there with her husband John Fleming until moving to Ohio after 1810. One of their sons was named Hugh C. Fleming, which is almost certainly Hugh Caldwell Fleming. One of John and Mary's neighbors in Mahoning, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, was Hugh Caldwell. Another neighbor, a Mr. McWilliams, is significant in that John and Mary's daughter was named Jane McWilliams Fleming.

In 1880 Mr. Caldwell married Harriet Cramer, and they have one son, Adair Caldwell. James Minott, maternal grandfather of Mr. Caldwell, was one of the first settlers in this section of the county. Mr. Caldwell owns a fine farm at Minott's Corners in Schuyler, but he resides in Herkimer.

Looking for info on Burl Caldwell, He married Jessie Marie Wolcott and they had twin sons born Dec 9, 1912 in St. Louis, Mo. Jessie and Burl Divorced That is all I have for him except he was employed as a steelworker at time of childrens birth. At least one of the sons, Albert, may have been raised by his Aunt, Ina Wolcott, White, Scully, Sparbur. May also have been called "Nan"? Henry and Albert eventually moved to the Santa Monica, California Area where they lived until they died.

looking for Decendents of Doctor Andrew Caldwell...died in Florida

I am not related by any means to Dr. Caldwell. I have some info for his decendents however. Dr. Andrew Caldwell came in 1870 to Mellonville, Florida (now Sanford) from North Carolina for his health. He had consumption. He built his home and planted an orange grove. ( this grove was uniuqe as he experimented with many variaties of flowers and fruit. some of the trees are still on the property) Dr. Caldwell was married to Julia and had 7 children. All but one was born in North Carolina.
I have an interest in this family as his house is still standing in original condition and I am buying it. I plan to restore the home and try to get it on the National Historical Landmark program. It is considered to be the oldest house in Sanford, Florida. If anyone is interested in gathering info about this family please let me know.

Does anyone have information on my Great Great Grandfather, William Caldwell who married Sarah Jane Beatty and probably lived in Butler County PA during the middle 1800's? she was a daughter of the late Wilbert and Minnie Reese Confer. Mrs. Caldwell lived in Summerfield, Florida from 1978 to 1998. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and loved dogs.
She was married to John Caldwell who preceded her in death in 2002. Surviving are three sons, Ronald, and his wife Estelle Caldwell of Girard, Bert and his wife Verna Caldwell of Oil City
and Richard Caldwell of Chambersburg, Pa.; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Also surviving are one brother, Melvin and his wife Liz Confer of Fertigs
and two sisters, Mary Bosley of Rimersburg
and Violet and her husband Ronald O’Neil of Fertigs.
In addition to her parents
and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Myrtle Uhlott,
Ethel Ausel,
Anna Mae Halter
and Florence Hartzell
and one brother Wilbert Confer.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Ronald Bole, officiating. Interment will be in Fertigs Cemetery.

William Fairfax Combs (b. 10 Jan 1897 and died 22 May 1972, I believe in Riverside, CA) and Janet (Miriam) Taylor Caldwell (b. 7 Sep 1900 in Glasgow, Scotland or perhaps, Holland)were married 27 May 1919, probably in Buffalo, NY. He was originally from Jackson Co., WV - they divorced in 1931. One child was born from this union, Mary Margaret (Peggy) Combs. I believe she may have gone by her mother's maiden name, Caldwell instead of Combs. She married Gerald Fried. I am looking for descendants or any information pertaining to Mary Margaret Caldwell Fried. Janet Taylor Caldwell went on to write an number of famous novels under the name Taylor Caldwell, including "Captains and The Kings" which was made into a mini series. She married three more times. She died September 1985 in Connecticut. I believe William F. Combs died in CA but am not certain. I'm interested in locating any information pertaining to William F. Combs. His father was William Edgar Combs, mother Nancy Roach. Grandfather, William Henry Combs and Sarah (Sallie) Flowerree. Janet Caldwell's parents were Arthur F. Caldwell b. abt. 1878 and Annie M. Luther Jr, born 5-27-1922 in MO, Lillie Mae, born 8-25-1924 in Holcomb, MO & Frances Pauline born about 1927 in MO. He left his family before 1930 and disappears. Fern Caldwell, age 91, Joplin, passed away at 10:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at a local hospital.
Mrs. Caldwell was born June 23, 1913, in Newton County, Mo., and was a lifetime area resident. A homemaker, she was a member of the Leawood Church of Christ.
She married Delbert O. Caldwell on March 15, 1933, in Joplin. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 1994.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Don Caldwell, in 2002; two brothers, Dennis and Elbert Ramsey; and a sister, Betty Richardson.
Survivors include two daughters, Twyla Caldwell and Melba Caldwell, both of Joplin; daughter-in-law, Marylin Caldwell, Grove, Okla.; sister-in-law, Betty Ramsey, Joplin; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece, Shelly Rogers, Joplin.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Leawood Church of Christ. Jim Stockam and Ronald Lankford will officiate. Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary Chapel.
The family request memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers, in care of Parker Mortuary.

Edna F. Caldwell, 97, of Rolla, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007.
She was born March 10, 1910, at Benton, Mo., daughter of James W. and May Harbinson Farris. Edna was united in marriage to Emory Caldwell of Commerce, Mo., March 21, 1942. He preceded her in death July 23, 1972.
Edna graduated from Benton High School and worked for Scott County Abstract Office many years. Edna and Emory moved to Cape Girardeau in 1950. He retired as a towboat engineer on the river. Their daughter, Cathy Caldwell Bond graduated from Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University.
Edna moved to Rolla in June 1994 to be near her family. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.
Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Cathy (Dr. Joseph) Bond of Rolla; three grandchildren, Mark, Matthew and Courtney Bond; two nephews, Lester Miller of Cape Girardeau and Tom Miller of Tallahassee, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, John, James and Wilson Farris; and a sister, Easter Miller.
A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Cape County Memorial Park.
Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.

On Oct. 29, 1977, in St. Louis, he married Peggy Brim, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include three sons, James Caldwell and wife, Tami, of Trenton, Canada and Matthew and Daniel Caldwell, both of St. Louis; one daughter, Christina Whalen and husband, Christopher, of Manhattan, Kan.; one brother, Albert Busiek, of Tuscon, Ariz.; two sisters, Debbie Robertson, of Senath, Mo., and Nellie Caldwell, of Oklahoma and 11 grandchildren, Olivia, Emily, Siena, Donny, Gavin, Mia and Liam Caldwell, Brett Barton, Alex and Nicky Ruiz and Alex Alvey.

Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at the Lulu Cemetery in Senath with the Rev. Everett Isom officiating.

Elijah went to Hancock County, Indiana, then to Jasper County Iowa where he died 6-4-1884. Elijah and Nancy had several children, one of which was E. M. Caldwell who married Sara J. Smith. I am researching the family of John Caldwell (b. 1809, d. 1887) and Eliza Fry (b. 1809, d. 1887) in Giles and Mercer counties, Virginia/West Virgina. I am particularly interested in if they had a daughter named Mariah Ann, Mary, or Polly Ann (b. 1835, d. 1892), as so many online records state. She is presumed to have married Casper Link Harless. Through census records for Harless, I find his wife's name in 1860 as "Mary", and in 1880 as "Polly A." I couldn't find any records for 1870.

In the 1850 Census for Mercer County, Virginia, John and Eliza Caldwell do not list any daughter with the names I list above. If she was alive, she'd have been about 15 years old.

Did she exist? Was she actually their child? Thanks for your help.

Am trying to locate a James Simpson, brother-in-law of Archie Caldwell (b-abt 1860) from Uddingston, Scotland. Archie arrived in New York in September 1904 on the Ethiopia from Glasgow, Scotland, leaving his wife & children in Scotland except for a younger Archie, and was met by James. It says that Archie was heading to Punxsutawney,PA, but I can't decipher where James was from.

My grandfather's grandfather was John Allen Caldwell. He married Julia C. Mitchell in Madison Co. Texas on Dec. 23, 1867. I have no other information regarding his birth or his parents. Any info would be helpful.

My grandfather tells a story of someone in the family getting in trouble with the law at some point and says the family changed their last name from Colwell to Caldwell.

I have information on this line from the present back to 1783 all is definate and documented. NOW I'm stuck on John Caldwell there are so many of them and so many sites. I did find this John in the 1770-1787 Nova Scotia census he was listed as a single man and an Irish protestant in the year of 1770. I'm not sure if it's the fellow I 'want but the dates fit and the fact that I can't find my John Caldwell's birth anywhere in Canada.What I do have is: John Caldwell m. Nancy Clarke on 12Dec 1783 at Hants, Windsor, NS. Their children (I have birth dates if anyone is interested) born between 1786 and 1801 at Horton, Kings NS., Jane, Joseph Clarke, Ann, Thomas Adams, John Marshall.
