"CALHOUN, MARY CATHERINE (Age 90)
Of Fredericksburg, VA, formerly of Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, VA, on December 18, 2005 at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
Born May 6, 1915 in Winchester, VA, daughter of the late Margaret Stover and John William Coontz, she graduated from Hanley High School in 1933, and Benjamin Franklin University. During WW II, she served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and graduated from the Army Administrative School in Lexington, KY. stationed at Ordinance Research Center, Aberdeen, MD. Married on December 22, 1948 in Silver Spring, MD, she lived abroad in Frankfort and Bavaria, while her husband was in the service. She retired from the Department of Agricuilture as a Budget Analyst.
She was the widow of Buel Calhoun and is survived by her loving son, Michael Clay Calhoun and his wife, Stair, and their three children, Austin Stair, Cynthia Katherine, and Carson Clay of Alexandria, VA; brother, Robert Allen Coontz and wife, Martha of Winchester, VA; sister, Donalda Coontz Shanholtz of Winchester, VA. also survived by dozens of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Ellen Coontz Orndorff.
Visitation at Lake of the Woods Church, Locust Grove, VA on Thursday, December 22, 2005 from 10 to 11 a.m., where Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Interment Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA."
