Am researching my paternal grandparents Giuseppe and Maria. Have a good deal of info. but looking for more. Trying to get info. on my great-grandfater Giovanni Cali and his wife Giovanna (Accurso) -

Have been in touch with M. Flores who is related through Rocco Cali (Maria's brother). Am looking for anyone else who may have info. or connection to this family.

I read your message, and my great grandfather Francesco Cali was from Sicily. I'm not sure if there is a connection, but my family always talked about a picture of my great grandfather in his military uniform. He was born July 7, 1886, married October 24, 1907 to Bernardina Cardella. They came to the US around 1907.

Here is a coincidence - my grandfather also came to the US in 1907 and settled in Illinois. Where did your grandfather live? I have 3 pictures of Frank in his uniform - I could send you one - would your recognize him? This Cali family was from Casteldaccia in Sicily which is about 15 miles from Palermo. I have 2 photos of Frank Cali who was from Castledaccia, Italy in Sicily from when he was apparently a member of the army in Italy. He was the brother of my grandfather, Andrea (Andrew) Cali who was born in 1882 so I assume he would be somewhere close in age. I am not sure whether or not he stayed in the United States, but my grandfather came to the US to stay in 1907 and lived in Streator, IL. I am searching for information on Rosina Cali, came to US in Oct. 1912. Her parents were Salvatore an Guiseppa Cali...ship manifest says from S. Agata, Messina. I believe she was 21 years old when she came to US. She traveled with Calogero and Rosa Cali. I have also seen several posts regarding a Frank Cali. I was researching a Rose Cali, who died in 1939 in Biloxi Miss. She was married to a Frank Cali who would have been born about 1858. I have more info on this if interested. Cali: Villafrati to Hammond/New Orleans LA

Rosario Cali and Francesca Bongiovanni arrived in the US after 1896. He was from Villafrati and she was from Palermo.

Rosario Cali's parents were Guiseppe Cali and Maddalena Graziano. I believe they both lived the latter part of their lives in the Hammond area. Also, both had relatives in the area as well.

I know that there are a lot of distant cousins in the Hammond area. Would like to hear from you.

I have a picture of Frank Cali who I believe was my grandfathers brother. My grandfather, Andrea (Andrew) Cali came to the US from Castledaccia, Italy in 1907 and finally settled in Streator,IL. I believe he had a few brothers that may have come to the US also - one being Frank and I think there may be a few more who may have ended up in Chicago, New York or possibly California. My grandfather went to Chicago quite a bit, to New York and back to Italy a few times. He married Antonina Canale in Italy before they moved here. She also had several brothers who moved to the US. Anyone have any connections?

Hi! I am looking for a "long lost" relative buried in the Rinella family plot. He is related to one of the main families: Rinella, Sansone, or Palmisano. The Rinellas have always lived in Chicago and I think some of the Palmisanos came from the Kansas City or St. Louis Mo. area originally. He may be named after two Leo Rinellas. I read your message. My family came from Casteldaccia, Palermo as well. They, too, settled in Streator, IL. I can tell you that I found your ancestors on the Ellis Island search while doing my search. I can also tell you that the Canale's are cousins of my family. The Canale's came often came to my great grandfather's house when they came from Italy. The surnames of my family from Casteldaccia are Tomasello and di Giacinto. Please email me so we can see if we have any information that can help one another.

Searching for my biological mother

I was born in Burlington, Vt. in July of 1961. I was given the name MaryAnn at birth. I was placed with THe Vermont Catholic Charities, Inc. To be given up for adoption. I believe my biological mother was a college student when she had me and that was why she gave me up. I would like to meet her and so if she sees this please contact me.

I am Cosmo's son and your 2nd cousin. Your grandfather was my uncle and he had a brother Joseph who remained in Palermo,Italy when the family immagrated to Roch. Your grandfather had two other brothers(John and Tony) who were also upholsterers. He also had three sisters (Amelia, Ida, and Mary);making a grand total of eight. Unfortunately they are all deceased now. My dad and uncle Tony both moved to Ca. I am slightly younger (one year I think) than your dad. If you want more information on the Cali family don't hesitate to ask. I know quite a bit about our history. I don't think Glenn is related.

Funny you should mention that your father was an upholsterer. My grandfather was an upholsterer also. His name was Thomas Cali. He had several brothers, one of which his name was Cosmo Cali, i believe he moved to California. I thought he had a brother by the name of Joseph also but I can't be sure. Again he had other children, but I am unsure of their names. My grandfather married Frances Ugliaoro Cali. He had two sons, Rudy (my father) and John, and four sisters, Anna, Mary, Jenny and Dorothy. Talk about large families. Did your father have a brother by the name of Thomas? If so, I would love to hear more from you. If not I am sure our families tie together somehow.

I am searching for information about my grandparents families. They were Andrew (Andreas) and Antonina (Anna) Cali who immigrated to the US in the early 1900's - we think around 1907. They were from Castledaccia, Italy. Anna's maiden name was Canale - she had a sister Sonda and two brothers Lawerence and Micheal. Andrew supposedly has a brother Frank who came to the US and I have a picture of him, but we have no idea of what happened to him. Anna and Andrew eventually settled in Streator, IL. Any information would be appreciated!
