He is my gg grandfather. According to family records, he was born Abt. 1810 in Hancock, TN and died after 1840 in Madison Co. KY. He is buried in the Gilead Cemetery in Kirksville, KY. His wife was Mary Jane Elkins. They had three children: James Born October 13, 1831, John Morris Born January 21, 1833, and Margaret Born abt. 1837. I have good records of the descendents of James and John (my
g grandfather).

While researching my maternal side (FELTS) I found the following individual:
Asa Callicott HAMM b. 1-15-1837 in Wayne County, Tennessee d. 9-10-1913 Lurton, Newton County, Arkansas.

Because of his middle name, I believe he must be related somehow to my paternal line of CALICO/CALLICOTT. I am unable to find his mother's name. Does someone know if Asa is conneted to CALICO and if so, how?

I saw we have a James Calico in the family,I dont have the info my sister sent me at the moment. I have benn looking up info on the Agees and the Warrens,Chastain,Soblett,Bondurants,etc, I was wondering since this is not a very common name(Calico) if we could have relatives? their are other spellings aswell such as: Challicoatte,Calicattand Challico! Do you have any information on Laura Calico and Charlie Carden? My husband has a cousin who is looking for details on the death of her father Charlie Carden. Rumor has it that Laura's father killed Charlie and stuffed his body down a well. Do you by any chance know of this story? Laura is the daughter of Isaac Calico and Elizabeth Boatright.

My gr-grandfather was John Calvin Calico on my mother's side of the family. My grandmother was his daughter Pearl.
His wives name's were:

1. Sinty Susan Trolinger (my grandmother's mother who passed in 1913)

2. Anna Swartwood

3. Eizabeth Abbs

Ernest Calico who married Leaster Pilcher, is from my Calico line. (Madison Co AR) Ernest's father was Thomas Calico, and Thomas' oldest brother was John C Calico who married Sinty Susan Trolinger--these being my g grandparents.
I know Ernest & Lester both died in Stocton, CA. I corresponded with Gerta before her death.

Okay Oleta - I keep reading your e-mails from time-to-time; Tahlequah caught my eye; I'm looking for any family of James Franklin Willhite from Tahlequah in the early part of the 1900's - he was the oldest of seventeen children; next child was Jess Willhite; James married Alma Leon Long in early 1940's; he was in late 30's or early 40's then. Does your book mention the Calico surname in Tennessee? I am looking for info on Jack Calico. I believe he was married to Fanny McClelland. Either my g-grandfather, Edmund Calico, is Jack's son or step-son. I believe went by the name of Calico, but later used McClellan/d, which was my maiden name. I have info on them at one point in KS, in the 1880's, but nothing after that. Any info youmay have on Calico in TN would be helpful.
