My wife's grandfather Pasquale Caliendo came from Marigliano, born @ 1888.His brothers were Louis and Antonio, and sisters were Mary and Rose Cervo (who lived in Marigliano).I do not know where the other siblings lived. The parents were Antonio and Pasqualina (maiden name Palma).
Pasquale married Angeline Bruno ( born 1892 from Scisciano) in @ 1907.They emmigrated to the US in1920 for him and 1921 for her and their two children at the time. They had four more children and lived in Chicago.
Pasquale made a previous trip @1912 and possibly lived in Brooklyn, New York with relatives/friends.
Let me know if this helps, or if you know any Caliendos in Marigliano that may be related. Thanks Leo Maslanka

I know it's been a long time since this thread was active, but I would love to hear from someone regarding the Lista/Caliendo family search. My grandmother was Jennie Lista, daughter of Catherine and Paul Lista of Long Branch, NJ.
Hello,
I just stumbled across your your inquiry. My grandmother,Jennie, was born in 1892 in Long Branch. Her maiden name was Lista. I'm not sure that she had any brothers, but she did have a sister, Lizzie. Her mother owned a candy store. I know that they were members of Our Lady Star of the Sea parrish in Long Branch.

After my grandparents married they moved to Lakehurst and as a small child I remember lots of relatives going by train to visit. I especially remember her cousin Paul Caliendo because she was very fond of him. I also remember an Aunt Kate and Aunt Nettie.

Does any of this ring any bells for you. Would love to hear back.

Thanks.

Message to Anthony Cresswell, my telephone number is 015256351550 and we live in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. The info you have is slightly inaccurate, I will detail below more info for your family:

Filoma Caliendo (maiden name unknown) born in Naples (don't know her husbands name, he was obviously the Caliendo from Saviano, Naples. Her son was Basilio born 1871 died 1921 (Buzzy), he married Annie Elizabeth Beale 1881-1963 they had 5 surviving children (they also had approx 8 other pregancies none of which lived more than a few days/weeks - not registered): Basilio Caliendo b1905 d1984 (batchelor) Florence b1912 married to Orfilio Costantini both of them died in Roma, Rose Caliendo b1914 married to Samuel Mason, Ivy Caliendo b1916 d2002 married to George Ezra 1910-2005 and Arthur Frederick b1919-1988 married Edith Tansley 1919-2006 they were my wife's parents, her name is Valerie b1942 they also had Linda b1945, Roy b1949 and Antonia b1957, all four survive. They all had children and so did the Uncles & Aunts except Basilio (Buzzy) he spent his young life bringing up the others (Florence, Rose, Ivy and Arthur) thats why he remained a batchelor - he encouraged all the family and sadly died in a road accident in Dunstable. I got the details of Filoma on the 1911 Census - we had never heard her name before, other details are vague as we believe she was just visiting London at that time. Call me if you read this for a chat. Best Regards Lionel

Hi Lionel,

I was looking for the origins of my Mothers family and came across your post. My Mums maiden name is Caliendo and her Father was Alexander Caliendo who is your wife's fathers (Basilio Caliendo) cousin. Therefore your wife Valerie is my Mothers second cousin I think, which would make your wife my Aunt of some sort I think. Be great to discuss this further as my Mum has always wanted to try and trace her relatives and was very excited this evening when we found your post as she remembers your wifes father as they used to call him Busie.

Look forward to speaking to you soon, we live in London dont know where you are but would be good to meet.

You would not imagine but this was one of the first posts I went to so its was quite uncanny that it matches up what was on the 1911 census for London.

Kind regards

Anthony Cresswell son of Josephine Caliendo now Cresswell

I have heard your name many times from my Mother and I am sure I have met you at one time or another. Who are your parents? I am familiar with all my Grandpa Pete's brothers and sisters. Also, I need to correct my previous post where I said my Grandfather passed away in 1972. He actually passed away in 1982. I was 4 years old then and do not remember him that well, although I do still see Uncle Frank often and Uncle Louis on occasion. I was also close to Uncle Tony and his family growing up.

He married Katherine Lista and raised a family of 12 in Long Branch NJ. Dominick was born approximately 1880, in Italy. Is it possible that your Joseph and my Dominick are related?

Lorraine
I was so excited to see your posting! By any chance would Paul Lista's wife, or one of his ancestors, be Catherine? My mother, Catherine Gaudious grew up in Long Branch. My gg-grandparents were Paul and Catherine Lista. Their daughter Katherine married Dominick Caliendo, whose daughter Josephine married Carmin Gaudious. The Caliendo and Gaudious families lived mostly on 1st and 2nd Avenues. My mother had two uncles, Paul and Samuel Caliendo who died in WWII. All together Dominick and Catherine Caliendo had 12 children. If any of this sounds familiar PLEASE feel free to contact me privately: sllytle58@yahoo.com

I have been trying desperately to find someone who knows of the Caliendo and/or Lista families from Long Branch.

Dear Sebastiano,
My grandfather was Alphonso Caliendo; I don't know if he was from Marigliano. However, my grandmother, Filomina Franzese, was from Saviano. Is Saviano a suburb of Naples? I cannot find it on a map. They married in this country. When Filomina died, around 1922? Alphonso returned to live in Italy. My mother, Isabella Rose Caliendo, was raised in Mississippi by her grandfather and uncle. She never saw her father again. I'd love to know more about the Caliendo family and Marigliano and Saviano.
Mary Pierce Brosmer

Re: Caliendo's Found!

Jessica: Your grandfather Pete Caliendo was not my grandfather, who was also Peter Albert Caliendo (or equivalent Italian spellings). My grandfather's history is somewhat elusive, as he died in approx 1942?? from epilepsy. My dad Frank was about 9 years old at the time. My grandfather Peter was married to Antoinette Romano, and they had 2 kids: my dad Frank and my aunt Theresa. Later Grandma remarried to Joseph Raggio, and they had another daughter, Antoinette, my aunt. Grandma came from Napoli with her father John Romano (her mom died in childbirth with her youngest brother John), and many brothers and sisters, sometime around WWI, but I'm not sure where Grandpa Pete came from. I thought my dad said that Grandpa might have been from a Caliendo clan originally from Spain, but details are fuzzy. Anyway, you're right: there were lots of Caliendo's in Melrose Park, Il. , including my Grandpa Pete. Wish I knew more about him - I look just like him!! Thx for the reply.

I believe there was two families and possibly more who had the last name Caliendo and lived in Melrose Park around the same time. My grandpa Pete Caliendo was married to Virginia and they had three kids. Thier names are Gail, Patricia, and Richard. My grandpa died in 1978. My great grandparents also lived in Melrose Park in the early and mid 1900's. My great grandma's name was Pasqualini Caliendo and I dont remember my great grandpa's name.
