SEATON, Illinois - John J. Callahan, 80, of Seaton, died Monday, November 10, 2008, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Galesburg, Illinois.
Funeral Mass will be at the St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Aledo. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Keithsburg, Illinois.
Visitation will be at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo.
John was born on August 14, 1928, in Seaton, Illinois, the son of William John and Bessie Fern Whitehall Callahan. He married Margie Maynard on February 6, 1948, in Rock Island, Illinois.
He was a farmer, retiring in 1992 and owner of the Keithsburg Tastee Freez. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Keithsburg and a trustee for many years. He enjoyed watching basketball and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Callahan of Seaton, Illinois; daughters, Deborah Eden and husband, Jack, of Galesburg, Illinois, Sandra Douglas and husband, Blaine, of Seaton, Illinois, and Rhonda Sanders and husband, Randy, of Muscatine, Iowa; sisters, Mildred Hutt and Winifred Waugh both of Aledo, Illinois; grandchildren, Alex Eden of Galesburg, Illinois and Derick Sanders of Muscatine, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; sister, Maude Truman and infant daughter, Mary Anne.
