My mother's maiden name is Callander. Her grandmother was Caroline Morley who married Arthur James Callander in 1877 . Apparently they had a daughter named Jean. Arthur James Callander was born on 04-13-1854 and Caroline Morley was born on 05-09-1858. Arthur was apparently the son of James Callander and Eliza Harman. My mothers' mother was Clara Ann Callander. I was also born in Australia in 1944.

My grandmother was Helena Callender of Cambridge Mass. and Brooklyn NY. Her father was James Callender Barbados. Many Callender's reside in Barbados, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. Hope this helps.

I to was playing around with the callander geneology. Arthur james callander would have been my ggg uncle. My gg grandfather was Patrick joseph callander b1885 in casterton vic. it doesnt surprise me that there would have a few father over the generations. If anyone has information they would like share it would be greatly appreciated

There is a book of the Callanders by H.B. Callander. If you have a family history center near by ask for the micro film: History of the Callanders -
FHL US/CAN Film [ 1015844 Item 20 ] Our family starts on page 35.
Austin was the first son of John 1835-1928 and Mary Ann Brownlee. My gr. grandfather was their 3rd son Robert. Robert moved his family to Delaware Ohio. Where he had a large family Bobbie

I would appreciate any help that you can give me, there are lots of Callanders' out there. I would really be interested to see what your cousin has figured out. So a few of them went to Australia. That answers why I am having trouble finding death certs for a few of them.

Robert Callander married Agnes Scott in 1824 I remeber ready it earlier today. My daughter's boyfriend is Brian Callender from Larbet/Falkirk. He wanted to research his family tree but got nowhere as his family seem to have collective amnesia on the subject. If you have any information about the Falkirk Callenders you could share with him, he might be able to spot a link from the meagre info he has, and would be very grateful in any case for anything you could tell him.

Some more info about Robert Callander. Robert was born 8 Feb 1800 to the parents Robert Callander and Mary Paterson. He married Agnes Scott on 9 July 1824 in Falkirk. They had 8 children together. And finally Robert died 1 Sept 1864 in Silver Row, Falkirk.

My husbands family are Callander's (this spelling) from the Falkirk area that came from a big tribe, although off the top of his head he wasn't aware of a Robert Callander. Do you have any more information? His aunt is currently working on a family tree and I may be able to see if he's a relative of this string of the Callander family.

I am trying to trace my dad's (Ronald James Callander, Glasgow) relatives. He lost contact with his father. I don't know his name (only met him when I was very young) His uncle was called James Callander (I think). I know that his dad re-married and had another child, a girl i think? His dad was in the army at one point. Sorry information is very hazy!!

The book is a little confusing, but I think I am getting it. With school I haven't had much time to concentrate on it. Here is the rundown as far as I know from 1936 to today from Forest:

Forest Callander married Mary Carter - not sure what year
Son - Lary Livingstone Callander born 5/26/1946
Lary married Melissa Mosley 1976
Daughter Shannon Lynn (Callander)Dimon born 10/13/1976

They have the name Dimon because their mom changed it after the divorce: Long story

This is a genealogy shot in the dark (so to speak).

I am researching my ancestor Hiram Louden from Bethlehem, Clark County, Indiana. I have hit a roadblock with this man. I pretty much know his descendants and am seeking information on his ancestors.

His first son is Hiram Calendar/Callander/Callender Louden. Knowing that back then they often named their children after parents or grandparents, I am wondering if Calendar/Callander/Callender might be the last name of an ancestor. Hiram Calendar Louden was born 1/25/1836 in Clark County. His mother was Harriet Jones, the daughter of Joseph and Frances Thompson Jones. Family lore says the family went to Indiana via boat from Virginia.

Do you know of the Calendar/Callander/Callender name in southern Indiana?
Does anyone in your database have a connection to either the Thompson, Jones or Louden surnames?

I do. My paternal greatgrandfather was Charles Callander or Kjallander, from Sweden. He lived near Litchfield Minnesota around 1880 or so. He died in Minneapolis in 1901. He married Emma Halstrom, my grandma Charlotte was born in 1884. Does this link to anyone you know? Carole Anderson

Now would she be the widow of William Beattie, Ploughman, when she died aged 76 on the 26 September 1886 at 2 David Street Maxwelltown, daughter of Robert Callander, ploughman, and Mary Manson and whose death was advised by her son - better look at the image for that.

The Len Callander mentioned was also my cousin. I am from Australia, the country where Lenard Callander was born. I didn't know Len personally, but I have a copy of the book he wrote "THE GENEALOGY OF THE CALLANDER FAMILY OF GEELONG, VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA" by Lenard Stuart Callander. If we have the same Len Callander as a relative, I would like to update my records, as well as help you update yours.

My grandfather's stepbrother ** was Arthur Callander born in Hamilton Vic in 1854 and married Caroline Morley on 5th July 1877 at Whittlesea, Vic. I am interested in finding any information regarding Allan Mcdonald Callander born in France around 1902. He was married to my great grandmother named Nina Elizabeth Shemo in Matawan NJ in July of 1929. They had two children Gretrude and my Grandfather Harry Douglas. According to oral history, he was of jamaican or west indian heritage. He had family in the new york area.
