I am fascinated here...we have been having great difficulty tracking the surname Collins back through our downline.

Family lore indicates that my great grandfather, Ferdinand Callerno changed his name to Collins after immagrating from Belgium and marrying Malinda Lavely in Michigan. We have been unable to uncover when this happened, but it seems pretty clear by new documents that Callerno morphed into Callens and then into Collins.
