William D. Calley was by gggrandfather. He was married to Luizer Paris. I think that Phoebe Paris was Luizer's sister and she was married to another Calley, and she may be the mother of Annie Carrie. Phoeba's husband died, I believe in Georgia, and she came to live with Luizer and William. She died here in Arkansas. William D. and Luizer's children were William Neuton (my ggrandfather) born 12-8-1885, Mary Jane born 3-27-1844, Feby Elisabeth born 11-18-1848, Noton born 12-26-1851, Julie born 7-10-1851, Julie born 7-10-1857, Nancy born 12-26-1859, Alabama born 11-18-1860, Mary Ann born 3-20-1863, and James Bankhead born 3-21-1865. I have a very old Bible with these names but there is not a Annie Carrie listed. The dates came from a list that my mother got at a family reunion many years ago. I have a little more information if you are interested.

Nelta

I only have information on William Calley... He was my great great grandfather ...my great grandmother's father. Her name was Annie Carrie Calley and she married Elijah Wood in Arkansas. Many of the Calley's (and Holcombs) are burried in Macedonia Cemetery in arkansas. I discovered this only a couple of years ago. Any information you may have on the Calley's would be appreciated.

Also...I've traced the Calley name back to Scotland but I've not been able to make my connection back that far. Last year when I visited Scotland I found many Calley's in the west highlands. There is even a hotel by that name,

Joyce Avery Loy

Carol, my great-great-grandmother's maiden name was Caroline Calley. She married Jacob Grisham. I found them in the census records as living in Greenville County, South Carolina in 1850 through 1880. A cousin and fellow researcher in Texas has told me that Jacob and Caroline and most of their children and grandchildren moved to Collin County, Texas in the 1880s. By the time of the move, they had begun to spell their last name Grissom. I'm descended from their daughter Emily who never moved to Texas. She married Jason Medlin in Greenville County. They and their children moved to Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Emily died at the home of one of her daughters in adjacent Gaston County in 1928. I don't know anything about Caroline prior to 1850. Do you have any information on her?

John and Elizabeth Calley

My great great grandmother was Elizabeth Calley, born September 5, 1829, in Wilcox Co., AL and died January 13, 1886 in Kemper Co., MS. She married Andrew Jackson Stuart in 1845 in Wilcox Co., AL. Elizabeth was the daughter of John Calley and Elizabeth Blakeley. John was born about 1788 in South Carolina and died abt 1876 in Wilcox Co., AL.
I believe John to have been the son of James Calley of South Carolina. Do you have these Calleys in your database? Jean Guice
