I just returned to this site and saw your post. I believe you are correct our grandfathers were brothers and yes, Charles did marry his cousin Ellen Relph.

I see there is a message from bonnieburns53 posted to this forum and she too is related. I am trying to connect with her.

your family of Calow are the same as mine. your Charles did marry his cousin Ellen Relph, her father frank Thomas son of Thomas samuel relph was the brother of Caroline relph who married frederick Calow.

Message for Terry Calow. I think your Charles Calow is the brother of my Grandfather, Frederick. The odd thing is - their mothers maiden name was Relph!! Could he have married a cousin?

In your Calow Pedigree, do you happen to have a Samuel Calow that married Mary Wolden in the 4th Q 1887 in the Leicester District of Leicestershire?

Frederick Thomas Calow is a descendent of William Calow and Sarah Tookey's third son, William Calow. I am a descendent of their second son, John Calow, born 1853 in Hinckley. I'd be interested to hear from any descendents of William Calow and Sarah Tookey, or anyone who can trace further back on this family tree.

do you have a FREDERICK THOMAS CALOW 1893-1949 in your research? his father was SAMUEL CALOW who was a chimney sweep from Leicester. Frederick is my g-grandfather, and i am having difficulty finding him on 1901 census.

Sorry, Jane. Nothing on him at the moment although I understand that there are more Calows in Leicester than anywhere else, so maybe someone else knows about him.

I was born in Leicester my dads name is Arthur Calow, i am 34 yrs old. we moved to South Africa in 1980 now i am back in birmingham.

My grandfather, Charles Calow emigrated to Canada in the early 1900's following service in the British Army during the Boer War and earlier campaigns. He was married Enda Relph.

I was very young when grandfather passed over but apparently he claimed to be a "Cockney" being born near Big Ben.
