John and Rutha's daughter Betty Kate was my grandmother (father's mother). She passed away Sept 7, 2008. She has four surviving children: Terri Hall of Marshall, VA, Dian Kiff of Harrisonville, MO, Rick Hepler of Richmond, VA and Russell Hepler of Arlington, VA. My father William Hepler has passed. I don't remember grandma ever speaking of her family. I thought she said she had grown up in an orphanage but I may have misunderstood. I did meet her sister Virginia once.

My grandfather (Roscoe) was born in 1879 in Seymour Indiana. He and all his many brothers and sisters and their parents John William Hunley and Susan Redman Hunley moved in late 1800's from Indiana to Springfield Tennessee. I heard my Dad talk about an Uncle Charlie (many of whose descendents live in Nashville, some of whom are members of 1st Nazarene Church). I also think I recall an Uncle Ben.

BOONEVILLE - Ada Louise Gilley, 91, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a member of the East Booneville Baptist Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Wallis, Bro. Rickey Kelly, Bro. Jason Pilcher and Bro. Willie Shinault officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Survivors include six daughters, Louise Johnson and husband, James, Lucille Parrish and husband, Brumley, Jane Davidson, Joyce McCreary and husband, Smith, and Kathy Reed and husband, Kenneth, all of Booneville, and Elva Robinson and husband, Bobby, of Corinth; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a special friend, Bessie Barron of the Landmark Nursing and Rehab Center.

I am seeking info on John Henry Calton's family. I think He was born in Alabama but I am not sure. It does list that on the 1920 census with his children, Ada, Fannie, Arthur, Seamon and Virgie. He may have also lived in Oklahoma for a time. He was married to a woman named Deed. I'm not sure of her maiden name but I believe it was Cole. He may have also been married to a woman named Armenia at some time prior. I want to find his father whose name I don't know and where he came from. He may have been in the Civil War also.He lived to be very old as I remember my grandmother saying.

I am looking for my g-g grandfather. I don't know his name or where he came from. My great grandfather was John H Calton. I think he was born in Alabama about 1878.He must have lived in Oklahoma at some time because my grandmother told me she lived there when she was a girl. I have just started a search on my family. My great grandfather was John H (I beleive it was Henry)Calton. My great grandmother was Deed, They had several children, Oscar, Ada, Fannie,Aurther, Mel, Virgie and Seamon. There is a JC Calton in my family as well as an Ophelia and RC Calton. Have and need information on Calton family ancestors who lived in Norfolk County England immigrated to U.S. in 1845, and settled in Jersey City, NJ. 3 sons served in NJ volunteer army in Civil War. Most of the family stayed around Jersey City and some moved to Peekskill, NY. One family moved to Connecticut around 1930. Earliest relatives found are Thomas Calton b 1805 married (in Winfarthing 1831???)to Harriet Colman b 1809. They are found in 1841 England census.

In-laws I've found include Guyon, Fletcher, Dickson, Bryant, Sherry, Thompson, VanDien, Jewell, Hargraves, Hughan, Rieble, Tracy, Dougherty, Olsen, Negraval, Milliman, Parrett, Colman (England)

Irvin Ray Calton - b. 3/6/1960 LA
Later adopted by Robert Lee Smith - Virginia Beach, VA

Melvin died in 1982-83 (suicide)
Irvin is living in Virginia Beach, VA area.

I would love to have more information on their father's side of the family.
