My brother's death cert. is all messed up too! My mother's name was Helen, death cert says Ellen, last name is spelled incorrectly, and my mother named him David and had a priest came in and officiate everything but death cert has his first name blank and they just put 'baby'.

I found her (my Ann Killoren) birth record - I believe I had to go to the Mass Archives - she was born in Boston 1874, parents Hugh and Margaret(O'Mara) Killoren.

I tried searching for her birth record as the marriage record says she was b. Boston according to the marriage she was 21 in Nov.6,1895 which would make her b.abt.1874 I could not find anyone in Boston, Cambridge female b. at the time. I thought it could be Hannah because I have seen it inter-changed.

Maragret, I never got an answer from NEGHS I am glad the other person was able to get the info at least you know. I have found the vitals for Mass. are not very accurate. For example my Mothers b. in Stockbridge was Helen Maria her name was Nellie Marie, my grandmother was listed as Ellen she was Helen and in one of the births for her children she was listed as Mary. My father who was b.Easthampton is listed Joseph his name Harold Louis.
It all depends on who gives the info even in the census

I've been looking for this Ann Killoren(sp) for awhile.
Actually the whole family for the 1900 Census. On a Somerville Directory for 1898 it lists them at Mossland St which is on the Cambridge/Somerville line.
I find a Margaret Killoran(sp)(mother to the Ann that I am looking for) on the 1900 Census living with a Phillip Doherty,(Margaret's relationship to head of household is mother-in-law) wife Ann and their son Edward. Everything on Margaret matches up - Widowed, born Ireland 1836, pensioner as occupation - she(my Margaret) is collecting on her husband's Civil War benefits, so I think great I've found two members of the family. When someone found the marriage of Phillip Doherty and Ann Killoran 1895 Cambridge V453 P263, Ann's parents are Thomas and Ann. Do you think the marriage record is wrong?? Like I said on the 1900 Census everything matches up for Margaret.

Received a reply from the NEHG, they are fixing the problem. Ann Agnes Killoran, 23, married Stephen Casper Regal, 25, on October 19, 1903 in Cambridge, Mass. He lived at 75 Spring St., she was at 45 Harding. He was a Pressman, born in Cambridge to Augustus and Catherine Donnelly. She was a Boxmaker, born in England to Thomas E. and Mary Ann Foy. They were married by P.J.Durgan, Priest, 49 Sixth St. Cambridge.

I am looking for Arthur Cambridge married to Elizabeth Hippler (or Hipplen, Hiffler, Hifflen, etc. Can't read some of the letters on marriage record for daughter). Daughter: Martha S. Cambridge was born about 1839 in England, unknown where exactly. The daughter is married in 1868 in Scotland so won't appear in any England census records I could find online since they only go back to 1871.

I have used the UK death index and have found three possibilities for Elizabeth Hoppler(?) Cambridge. Can anyone tell me which of these places is near Great Shelford (her last known residence): Bristol, Huddersfield, or Birmingham?

I also recorded the Volume and page numbers for each possiblity, but I have no idea what to do with them.

I am also a Cambridge. There were Cambridges-William to be exact from Pocomoke Swamp of Maryland I believe they were Native Americans Not sure if that is Somerset County.In Tennessee members of the Cambridge family successfuly proved in court that they were Indian and not black, which entitled them to free education. IN Maryland, Cambridfe had been called a mulatto, which wad sthe common title for Chrinstia Indians. this information is from Winnesoccum Disaster by Ned Heite.

The Cambridge men had naval connections and some of the Bourner women were midwives.

Hi there....really hope you can help!

I'm trying to find out some information about my Grandmother - Margaret Joan Robinson.

I knew her until I was 11 years old and my mother tells me that she was a very private person and didn't like to share info about her past, so I'm trying to be as respectful as I can be....

All I know is that she was born Margaret Joan Robinson on the 13th December 1919 in London (but not sure where), I don't know her father's name but her Mother was called Frances FRASER. Most people knew her as Joan rather than Margaret.

My Grandmother married a guy called Frank CAMBRIDGE (full name Francis William Jack Cambridge) who I know nothing about....

She was a SGT in the WRAF and I think everyone knew her there as Joan Cambridge although she wasn't married to Frank for long and did get divorced from him.

My Gran married my Grandad (Robert Hellings) on the 13th August 1948 and everyone knew her as Joan Hellings. She then moved to Devon where she spent the rest of her life.

I'd love to find out anything about her side of the family, as so far I've found not much at all :( So any info you might have would be very very appreciated!

I've traced back my Cambridge name to Maryland,USA, c. 1730. Before that, not sure. In addition to Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, there is a much smaller town in, I believe, Gloucestershire,UK, called Cambridge. This may be the origin of the many Cambridges listed today in Bristol, which is the closest large city. Also, perhaps, some of the Cambridges from Ireland, of whom there are many. Or these may be descendants of Cromwell's troops from East Anglia who settled in Ireland. Cambridge is a relatively rare name, but seems to have several possible origins. It is also a surname for many black families in the West Indies.
I will try to check your tree on ancestry.com to see if there are any clues there. Thanks for your message.

Theresa, Did these Cambridge's start off in Indiana and then go to New York or did they start off say in Maryland or Kentucky? My Cambridges seem to have started in Maryland and then Kentucky and then Indiana in the 1850's. Haven't heard of yours but will do some checking.

Hi Sheryl, My maiden name is Cambridge and I have been trying to figure our the definitive connection for a few years now. Based on the 1850 census of Bracken Couonty Kentucky a William Cambridge had the following children:

Nancy 23 in 1850
Matilda 21
Sarah 20
William 19
John 18
Frances 16
Charles 14 Could this be your Charles? There was a Charles who married Mary Ann Petty.
Perry 12
Telitha 8
I have corresponded off and on with another Cambridge. We came to the conclusion that this William was a brother to Levin. They all seemed to move back and forth between Indiana and Kentucky. There was also a branch that move to Iowa. They were classified as freed blacks. Perry of the above list was my great-grandfather. He died in Frankfort, Indiana area in 1908.

My name is Teresa and an a descendant to Cecil E. Cambridge, II or Jr. (deceased) (depends on which records you look at). Son of Cecil E. Cambridge married to Aberta Madge Gill (both Deceased) , Grandson of Cecil Emery Cambridge married to Anna Francis Whitaker.

My family has lived in Indiana for all of these generations that I have figured out.

I am looking for as much ancestral data on these people as possible. I have no one I can ask since all the elders in my family are mainly deceased.

looking for distant robert cambridge family line

hi there my cambridge line is all in england. unless more came over after 1912. My great great grandpa was Robert Cambridge from Camberwell who married Sarah Ann Cook from Bermondsey,St.Olave. From the census records he was a greengrocer.
I would like to go back further but i am from Canada and not sure of what direction to take in order to extend my research. I have questions about robert and sarah's children. the birth dates are a bit messed.
Sarah left Robert due to abuse and cheating and brought their 7youngest with them. One of the older kids Dorcas came over in 1910 (two yrs before)According to an 1891 census robert was (born abt 1859)32 and sarah was 28 their children were:
Robert age 11,Sarah age 9 John age 9,Eliza age5,Alice and Dorcas were 8months old. Then 21 yrs later in 1912 sarah came to Canada on the passenger list states only the kids ages under 11 are listed. Paul 11,Jane9(my greatgrandma),Eliza (abt26),Berth (real name was Dorothy Albert)5,Alice(abt21),James 8,and Aaron11???? no one knows who aaron is. That would leave the older robert,sara and john behind in england. In 1912 they would have been 32,30 and 30. We have no knowledge of these older kids coming over.
It would be great to contact a descendant of one of these kids.we would be at least 4th or 5th cousins.

I am not a Cambridge but I am a great-grand son of Olevia Garvin. My grandmother Araminta (Garvin) nickname (Nina). Born in Honduras and grew up in Key West, FL. Married William Arthur Knowles. Lived in Tampa, FL and NY. Died in NY in 1959,60. There were 12 children, 3 girls and 9 boys. I have just been contacted by Vivian and I am going to send her all that I have on the Garvin side of the family.

I am also researching this line of Cambridges. Specifically my grandmother, Dana Cambridge b.1882, in Iowa and travelled to Idaho about 1887. Her great uncles were Silas and Middleton (Milton) Cambridge. (sons of John F.Cambridge and Susannah Petty.) However, she never knew who her mother was. My "theory" is that she may have been a child of Almeda Cambridge, perhaps born out of wedlock. I am running out of hope that I will ever figure this out, but what an interesting family to research!

I have a few Cambridge born in Dover, Kent and wonder if they may be connected.
William Henry Cambridge, born 1854 Woolwich, Kent married Marion Hill. They had William Hill Cambridge, b 1879 and Daniel Cecil J. Cambridge born 1881 both in Dover, Kent. A daughter, Marion Hill Cambridge was born 1883 Stoke Demerel, Devonport.
William Henry Cambridge was the son of Daniel Cambridge who received the Victoria Cross in 1856.
I would enjoy swapping Dover Cambridge info with you.

My name is Jim Cambridge and I live in London, Ontario, Canada. I have traced my family line back to 1640. During most of that time all my Cambridge's lived in or near the city of Cambridge, U.K.. Most Cambridge's originated in surprise, surprise but Cambrildgeshire or just across the border in Herefordshire, U.K. - mine did. I have traced my Cambridge line back to 1640 and up and including when my great grandfather John, James Cambride emigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1868. My research is all available on Ancestry.com. My family originated from villages in Cambridgeshire and Herefordshire such as Great Shelford, Trumpington and the city of Cambridge eg my great, great grandfather John Cambridge worked as a shoemaker on Jesus Lane, Cambridge. I have traced my family tree back to 1640 and most of my ancestors lived in the above general area. You might check my family tree which is available on Ancestry.com.
